I think I pulled a muscle at the gym yesterday in my upper back. I don’t work my back near enough as I should do, so that’s probably why. I did extra weight on the ezy-curl bars and I guess my upper back couldn’t handle it 😛 It’s just annoying and I keep trying to work out the knot by reaching over and rubbing it in circles and putting pressure on it, but it’s still hanging around. It even hurts to turn my neck to the right because it obviously is connected to that muscle somewhere lol. Oh well I’ll live.
Despite that, I went for a rather big walk yesterday morning, sussing out free tennis courts in the area. I found the one that I initially thought of because I used to pass it all the time on my way to my old gym, and it was free and open, but there were people playing on it. The reason for me looking for tennis courts is that one of my workmates asked what I did on Sundays, and when I replied sweet fuck-all, we organised to play. Neither of us have played in around two years, so I figured I’d do some research on where I knew courts were, ad see if they were open or not. So that one court was the farthest away one, so that one was an option. I then went to the QUT uni where they have six well-maintained courts. As I suspected, all of them were locked up. Shame.
It started raining as I left the uni and I didn’t have my umbrella with me so I put up with it and kept on to my next location, the army barracks. There’s only one court there, but it too was all closed up. I didn’t bother walking over to see if it was locked or not – from what I could see, it didn’t look too inviting. After that was my final location, to the courts at the Brisbane Girls Grammar school. I noticed a guy throwing hoops on the courts. A good sign! I wandered down there and saw that all the courts were open – there are four of them, and they were in pretty good nick as well. I read the sign on the gate saying that the courts were for the use of the Brisbane Girls Grammar from Monday to Friday 7am til 5pm. Sweet! I guess that means we are good to go.
After that, I went back home because I had to work extra hours today – a 3:30pm til midnight shift, which I did. My back didn’t bother me overly too much, and I told my workmate about my little walk and I’m meeting him there later on today for a bit of a hit. I’m sure we’ll both be as hopeless as each other lol.
I got home from work (and gym – I’m still going and loving it!) and searched up in the attic for my old tennis racquet that I think I’ve had since primary school lol! I found a can of tennis balls, only to open it up and find only one in there. Oh well, at least I have one. I’m thinking I’ll head down to the shops tomorrow and buy some more tennis balls. I’ll probably even buy a new racquet while I’m there haha. It’s an investment, right?
So I’m looking forward to playing later on today. It’s actually 3:45am now and I haven’t slept yet, but about to. I’ve set my alarm to give me some time to buy what I need and head down to the courts, and fingers crossed there isn’t a tourbus of people all using the courts, and that the weather’s nice 🙂
Yay.
It took me a minute to get your title haha Tennis seems like a lot of fun! (Never played.)
