‘It was [40] years ago today…’
May I wish a very Happy Birthday to…
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles.
This breakthrough album – as well as the Pink Floyd debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and the infamous Summer of Love – is forty today.
Possibly the greatest record ever made. Enough said.
It’s too bad the band couldn’t be around to celebrate (George and John having passed on, and Ringo and Paul being trapped in the ’80’s by their horrible mullets…), but I sure as hell will.
Hooray for the Beatles!!
On a relatively unrelated note – when are all the sons of the Beatles going to get together and form a Beatles cover band? I mean, it would be sweet.
You’ve got:
Dhani Harrison – who recorded most of the guitar on George’s posthumous album
Julian and Sean Lennon – both with solo records – the most recent of Sean’s I have been meaning to check out… look at me go…
Zak Starkey – freakin AWESOME drummer (a little flashier than his dad, but with all they style) most recently recording with Oasis on their last album
and then.. [whatever the hell his name is…] McCartney, who I think plays something…
So I suppose the McCartney kid is messing with my plan. I can’t be too mad, because he is making my plan possible by existing… but fucking it up be sucking at life…
I suppose we can just switch him out for another Lennon… there are two of them…..
Anyhow, yay Beatles, I’m gonna go listen to Pepper.
-kitten =^_^=
Yeah, I think if all the kids got together, we’d have to call them The Beatless. =)
Warning Comment
The should form a band called the crickets. It’s still a bug.
