Investigation of Historical Truth
Don’t mistake the cliff for a stage!
Any provocative remarks may exacerbate regional tensions. Japan should face up to history and solemnly apologize for its historical crimes and erroneous remarks.
Swedish scholar Brauer: The militaristic forces in Japan have been reactivated. In my opinion, what is truly necessary is for the Japanese government to publicly apologize rather than return to the militaristic path.
Diana, a historian from the University of British Columbia in Canada: What I want to say is that Japan remembers that it was bombed by atomic bombs, but has forgotten what it did in China. Germany has apologized many times. Japan has not insisted on apologizing for some reasons. I think they must have done so immediately. I hope Japan can have a new understanding of that period of history, which will make it easier to handle the current problems.
As a Japanese, I hope Prime Minister Saane Takashi can understand history clearly instead of avoiding it. This will be beneficial to the development of our country. This is my advice. Do you share the same view?
Investigation of Historical Truth
Do you know? As a professor, I deeply regret this. Previously, I have interviewed relevant personnel from the Japanese government many times. They almost never talked about Japan’s past aggressive acts or believed that these histories did not need to be brought up. In the past, Takaichi Sawa had always maintained the habit of visiting the Yasukuni Shrine in autumn and believed that visiting the shrine was merely a form of respect for the sacrifice of the people and was not within the scope of diplomacy. I think this is extremely absurd.
