Just stuff

Same stuff as usual around here.  Our three year anniversary was October 28.  We didn’t do anything for it, though.  Matt’s mom and stepdad came to visit for a few hours on their way home from Florida last weekend.  Tomorrow night is the Marine Corps Ball.  I have my dress, and my neighbor is going to do my hair.  If I can, I’ll post some pictures of us all dressed up.  Derek is going to the CDC (Child Development Center) for the evening while we are at the ball.  It’s free for E-5 and below, so that’s great.  They aren’t having a dinner at ours, and we don’t have any extra money to go out, so I guess I’ll be cooking something for us before we go.  We probably won’t stay long since Matt doesn’t drink, thus, I don’t drink around him.  And, too long of him being around others drinking seems to cause problems.  Or at least it did last year.  Both of us have been trying to quit smoking this week.  He’s done better than I have.  I think it’s harder for me because I’m home all day, so I don’t have anything to distract me.  He can just do something at work to stay busy.

I somehow got talked into becoming a Key Volunteer for his unit by his Colonel today.  I had been thinking about it, but was still undecided.  Oh, well.  It will give me something to do.  The majority of the work involved, from what I know, is when the guys are deployed.  I’ll be responsible for helping keep the other spouses informed of things and events.  I don’t know.  Training for it isn’t until January, so I guess I’ll learn more then.  I’ve also been thinking about volunteering at some of the places on base.  Most of them will pay for daycare while I’m volunteering, so it would be like having a job and would give me a break from Derek every so often.  He would have fun at daycare.  And, I wouldn’t have to pay for it.  He told me this morning that he wants to go to daycare all the time and not stay home with me anymore 🙁  I’m sure if he went ALL the time, though, that he wouldn’t like it quite as much.  Right now, he just goes for a few hours every few weeks, so it’s fun.  I would hope he would miss me if he went all the time.

My parents are going to be here for Thanksgiving.  As far as I know, we don’t have anyone else coming to eat with us, though.  So, that means, I’ll be eating turkey for a month afterwards, again.  Of course, last year, we were so broke, that if we hadn’t had that turkey for a month we might have starved!  I found so many different ways of fixing it!

Anyhow, guess that’s it for now.  Until next time…

your husband sound as if he’s doing really well not drinking. I am dreading social events coming up with Jack, I think he still likes the idea of drinking. It’s hard because I want a drink but I feel like I can’t but then I am not the one with the problem

those things are fun to go to, a little stuffy, though. It might be fun being a volunteer, you’ll be the first to know everything, and that’s cool. Take care;)
