Day 15 Shooting- Bathtub

So we needed Alex’s fangs again, but Brian the special effects guy has either been avoiding me or just way too busy to bother.  So I settled on some cheap 10 dollar fangs from the Hollywood Costume and Toy Store.  My actors showed up and we reviewed the footage from the first day to match their looks- Alex discovered she was wearing the wrong outfit and she had to go back home.

I rewrote a scene to make it work for the roof top downtown- this was a scene that was scrapped earlier, but Alex convinced me of its importance and I decided to finally film it.  Then Alex also suggested we try another location since there were so many scenes in the bedroom already.  I love shooting on roofs, so that became final.  So I had to tweak the scene because it started with them cuddling in bed and now it would have an entirely different feel on the roof.  Should they just be hanging out- having a picnic?  Shoot it during the day or night? 

I only scouted the location at night and it was beautiful- awesome back drop of downtown, but I didn’t think it would work in the dark.

The actors got back and I shot Alex’s angles first.  She kept giggling, but after a few bad takes she got in the zone again.  I had a hard time avoiding myself in a mirror reflection. 

This is the scene where she discovers her lover masturbating in the bath tub, which sort of screws up her plans of biting him with her new fangs.  She’s really disgusted and leaves in a hurry.

We discussed the possibility of Mike locking the door or leaving it open.  Alex thought he would leave it open because he wasn’t expecting her home, but I thought he would lock it because every guy is extra cautious when it comes to jerking off- especially now with the new scene in the movie where he talks about how he got caught several times.  So maybe he wouldn’t lock it, but he would at least close the door.

Her eye line was off so Mike hopped in the bath tub below me, so Alex could have something to react to, while I balanced myself above.  Of course they got the giggles a few times too the minute they had to look each other, so Mike averted his eyes completely in later takes.  It was tricky because I still got the reflection from the medicine cabinet mirror and I had to remember to keep the sliding shower door closed because it would reveal Mike fully dressed inside- little things like that.  That reminds me I still got to record sound for the shower because we didn’t actually have it running during the shot.

I’m still kicking myself for not getting that other shot- just to set up the scene.  Just a shot of Alex returning from work and dropping her stuff in the bedroom and then she hears the shower form the bathroom.  That little shot would make a world of difference- I shouldn’t of let Alex talk me out of it,  It was late and she wanted to go, so I caved like a bitch.

Anyway, Mike took off his shirt for his angle and made a point to actually hold his weiner while her jerked it under his shorts- something I didn’t want to know, but whatever.  We got some great reaction shots- I love the look on his face where you can see the fantasy slowly melting away and the sudden realization that Alex has caught him.  Like coming out of a dream to reveal the nightmare of reality staring at you. 

Easy scene, but still complicated enough where I left important shit out.
