Stress Levels
Here we are 15 days away from Christmas. We had to go to the dentist yesterday. I made an appointment for next Wednesday to go talk to someone about what might be an insane idea. But, It’s worth asking about.
Well, While we were shopping a man stopped us and Marc set us up for a free quote on new windows. Something we’ve been thinking about since we decided we were going to buy this house. Plus, one of our bedroom windows is missing a pane of glass. The windows are the original ones, and this house was built in 1906.
We have to get the wiring done, finish the bathroom, and get all the big things finished. This spring we’ll have 10 out of 20 (that we quoted) replaced. They’re the biggest problem windows. After those are paid off, we’ll do a few more. Eventually, we’re going to replace the windows on our porch (it’s a sun porch & with the windows that they have, it’ll be great. The warm will stay in, in the winter, and out in the summer.
Marc’s grandfather said “That guy was a hard sale! Staying here until 10:00pm! And he wouldn’t let up.” The thing is, we had been thinking about this for a LONG TIME! and we knew it would be expensive, and it’s also one of the TOP things we need to do.
Now, it’s a huge secret because “The old man is always right” at least in his mind… Grandpa said “We need to rebuild that chimney first, then we have a bunch of other stuff that should come before the luxury of New Windows
Because he’s paying $500/month on electric because we’re cooling the OUTSIDE! and lets not forget, he doesn’t give a fuck about our bills! We figure, $9,000 for 10 windows @ 175/month & we can pay it off early. Plus, get the next bunch of windows for the same $9,000/10 windows. Then we have the porches windows. Two rooms where two or three walls are JUST bay windows. It’s going to be great when it’s all done. Who cares what the OLD MAN thinks.
He probably thinks that my idea of opening up a studio is stupid too. But it’s not like we have space HERE for my photography to take off.
This is our house, but that man thinks his OPINION means anything when WE OWN THE HOUSE NOW! It’s Marc’s and MY decision on what we do, and in what order. We choose to do the windows because of the price lock in, and that we have drafty or broken windows.
