a run for the ages

Today is Sunday, thus it is the dreaded Long Run day. The weather this morning was miserable, and I didn’t get that much sleep last night, so I was kind of apprehensive about running 13 miles. But once we got to Tyler Park (in Pennsylvania) and started running, things immediately picked up. Every single trail there was either a mudhole or a puddle, so it did not take us long to become completely soaked and caked in the mud. At this point, we ceased to care about our clothes, shoes, socks, bodies, et cetera. In fact, I had to throw out my socks from the run because there is no way I can wear them again. During the course of today’s run, we ran through a river, scaled a cliff, got lost in a cornfield, and were chased by a big, angry dog. Miraculously, we suffered no casualties. The 13 miles just FLEW by. It was such a crazy, fun run; I feel sorry for everyone that did not take part in it. It was some of the most fun I’ve had while on a distance run!
