my work here is done
I feel like Reggie Miller…
…without the thousands of cheering fans. On Thursday night, I watched the end of the Pacers-Pistons playoff game, which the Pistons won to eliminate the Pacers in what was Reggie Miller’s last career game. The next day, I ran the 1500 in my last-chance effort to qualify for nationals, but the race did not go well, marking the end of my season and ultimately my track career. Reggie Miller had been to the NBA Championships during his career, but had never won it; similarly I have been an Indoor All-American but never even qualified for outdoor nationals. I couldn’t help but notice the parallel.
So now my time at TCNJ is officially over. I have nothing left to contribute to the school. After spending the past four years studying, researching, running, and living there, I finally moved all my stuff out for the last time today. As Lauren and I were discussing today, this part of our lives are over. Everyone is moving on to thier post-collegiate plans and we will never all live together again the way that we have become accustomed to since freshman year. Even if people manage to stay in touch, it will still be a completely different situation because we will still be separate most of the time and we won’t all be a PART of each other’s lives anymore. And that will definitely take some getting used to.
