Fargo
Our trip to Fargo was a big success I am happy to say. The ride got to be a bit long and I am paranoid about our son driving thru the big city of Minneapolis on his way but he will have to adjust. Those people drive like maniacs. I swear Minnesota drivers are the worst. Sorry only being honest here.
Fargo is actually a really nice town. Good size, big mall, lots of good resteraunts. We ate at a Ruby Tuesdays, and I loved it. Well I mostly had the salad bar but it was a big, good salad bar. I had the mini cheeseburgers and their fries were to die for. I haven’t been eating alot of fries lately so I enjoyed them.
One bad thing about Fargo is all most of the streets we drove on were numbers. 1st St N, 4th St S, ect. It was hard to figure out where we were going. I didn’t like the numbered streets compaired to having a named street. I think I could remember names over numbers. The campus is really a nice campus and alot of new buildings. It’s nice sized about 15,000 students and in a nice area of town. Our son’s dorm is right next to the Fargo Dome so hopefully he can see some good concerts or attractions in town. I guess that is where they play all their football games in a dome. I thought that was unusual.
We stayed in a hotel close to campus and will probably stay there from now on. They have a pool and hot tub which our younger son would like and we were practically pool side, so he will enjoy that. It had a breakfast plus a lounge too which was nice. And the first night they had blackjack in the bar. The 2nd night they were playing bingo. I want to say they have a casino there also but we didn’t find time to find out where it was.
Orientation went well, a long day but it was full of information. Alot of good information especially since he will be close to five hours from home and I will need to talk to him on a regular basis.
Other than that all is well. Our neighbors have company this weekend. So I am sure it will be interesting there tonight. These people come once a year and they all look like they are having a great time.
I have to run we have another grad party this afternoon. I think we are finally finishing up on them. I am glad to say.
Have a great weekend.

Sounds like it was a good time by all! I’m sure your son will adjust just fine. Can’t believe school starts soon! Yikes! I love Ruby Tuesday’s salad bar too, and their French Onion soup is yummy too!

RYN: The “package” basically just talks about the relo stuff, since they already talked about the job and the job level, etc. at the interview. And since it’s the same company, it’s not like they can hide much from hubby in the paperwork. That’s the easy part for him. lol It’s just the house and the kids and the schools, etc. that’s going to be the hard part. We’ll do it though, and be fine.

I may be traveling through Fargo in Aug when my mom & I drive to Montana for cousins 98th birthday. I’ve been through there before too but never stopped for more than gas & a meal. I’ll pay more attetion if we do go through. I hope your son enjoys his college experience & you don’t get too worried about him. Enjoy your summer.
