Lets Go Buffalo!!!

More house drama. One of the stipulations we heard from our loan processor was to be notified when repairs were finished so they could schedule their final inspection. We weren’t sure if they were simply sticklers about every detail of the contract and wanted to see if the repairs WE requested were done. Our paralegal said yes, that with FHA they leave no stone unturned, and if this was the case it sounded like it would be no big deal. We requested the repairs OVER a month ago, they should be done by now, right?

Well, no. More than one party is sitting around with their thumbs up their bums, apparently.

And….the bank did their appraisal. WEEKS ago, and never notified us of any repairs they are requiring us (well, the sellers) to make. When they sent the conditional commitment letter to our paralegal, there was something listed. They want EVERY wooden surface on the outside of the house to be scraped and painted. This includes the framing around the windows, and the areas under the gutters. The house itself is brick, so there’s really not a ton of surface area in any spot. But – there are a lot of spots. So it’s a huge undertaking.

Thankfully, the sellers agreed to do it. Or rather, our agent said "they sounded okay with it last night". I guess I should have been happy with that? But instead I asked her to ride their asses to get it done. Considering they have a house they are closing on the same time they’re selling us theirs, they should have a little more fire under their asses. They are way too laid back and take it easy about things. And judging by how long it’s taken the bank to get their crap in order, we’re not gonna call and say "okay they’re done with repairs!" and they’ll be out there inspecting in a few hours. I refuse to let something like repairs, that very well could be in our control, be what makes us late for closing. Especially since it’s not OUR responsibility, yet if we go late WE will be the ones charged a fee. And Bank of America isn’t really known for affordable fees. (They tried to charge us $750 just to extend our interest rate lock-in!!!)

Ugh….just….I can’t wait until this is all over.

In other news. It looks like Luke has been plagued with another virus. I wouldn’t call him "sick", though. Turns out he had more going on this week than just teething. He had slight fevers Monday & Tuesday – nothing really high or uncontrollable. He had no other symptoms other than being a little irritable and eating a little less than normal. Yesterday the fever was gone and he seemed more himself – other than the 3.5 hour nap he took in the morning! This morning he seemed pretty great. I took him upstairs to change his diaper & put him down for his nap, and when I pulled up his onesie, I saw his belly & chest are totally covered in a splotchy red rash. He was sort of dragging his fingers over it as if to scratch it? But didn’t really seemed bothered by it, and when I put his clothes back on he’d already forgotten about it. I put him down for his nap and debated about calling his doctor. I decided just to call and see what they said (I really didn’t feel like this was something he’d need to be seen over….I dunno, call it mother’s intuition or maybe just that he seemed so much himself that there couldn’t have been anything seriously wrong?). But I know if I didn’t get any reassurances everyone would be up in the air about if he was contagious or yadda yadda.

The nurse told me about a virus kids usually get at his age and how it progresses. She basically described the paragraph above. She told me that there’s really nothing to do other than give him a little benadryl if he starts getting irritated by it – just to monitor it to make sure it doesn’t spread like crazy and it should disappear about 3 days from now. And, now that the fever is gone, he’s no longer contagious so we can go about life as usual. This is what he has.

Poor beebs. We’re going to go about our day as usual and see how he does. My mom took the day off, and we’ve been going out for pancakes with my Grandma on Fridays (actually it was just us last week, though). SO, we’re gonna go this morning, when Luke gets up from his nap. And…..
