12 sets

Hmmm. I guess it has been a while since I took any pictures.

I got up this morning and got out one of my digi-cams and it wouldn’t start; I changed the batteries for one of the two extra sets I have in that camera’s pouch. Dead. The second set, dead. Shit, I wanted to use THAT camera, but, ok, I have the other one too, with thee sets of…dead batteries.

I have twelve sets of NiMH rechargeable batteries and all of them were dead or dying. I guess it’s been a while since I took any new pictures.

The second group of four batteries is in the charger now; the cameras are "living" again, with their dates reset and all the stuff you have to do for a first -use of the camera. The older Nikon has a start date of 2004; I guess I’ve had it for a long time. 12,000 or more pictures taken with it anyway, and I suppose that makes it the camera I have used most of all, in 40 years of picture taking.

I will be using at least one of the cameras this week; my Oregon Zoo friend, the one who told me about OD, is coming up from San Diego this week.  One time when she came up we went to Bridal Veil Falls  Christmas  Day.  It will be a lot warmer this week, for sure, and I’m thinking that we’ll go to Horsetail Falls, and, specifically, Upper Horsetail Falls.  You can walk under those falls, and although it looks to be cooler this week – our 90 and hundred degree hot flash didn’t last too long – it will be nice to feel the spray from the falls.

When I was there in February/March, it was kinda cold.

The Gorge is nicer when you don’t have to bundle up, although I do miss the many pockets.  It’s kinda nice to wear as little as possible, but then you have to carry a bag or something.  Or take less stuff.

Well, the battery charge takes as long as it takes and spending time like this doesn’t speed it up, so, on to something else.

Monacita, the Dolphin, and I will do the Gorge later this week and I’ll take a few pictures then.

I took about 10,000-15,000 pictures a season when I did aerial photography. I was contracted to take between 20,000 and 25,000 but never made it. That’s a lot of flying in circles.
