3860 Westmoreland Park
this is entry number 3,860
Westmoreland Park is the largest park of it’s kind in Portland; it’s not the largest park, which is Forest Park, in the West Hills, but Forest Park is the largest park of IT’S kind in the whole country. Hiking and biking trails lead up and through the West Hills, covering hundred of acres. The Oregon Zoo is up there – I used to work there, when I started this diary, and so is the International Rose Test Garden, the oldest public rose garden in the US.
Westmoreland Park is a kind of linear park; situated on McLouglin Blvd. from Crystal Springs down almost all the way to Tacoma Street, Westmoreland Park is BIG. Crystal Springs forms a pond where ducks and geese hang out on the north end of the park, and the stream from that pond flows into Johnson Creek on the other side of Tacoma St.

All in all, I’ve had a good time here, and, in my not humble at all opinion, I have gotten to show off some of Oregon’s and the Pacific Northwest’s great beauty. There are more than a few superlatives here.
Onwards.
Upwards, and Onwards.

I have fond memories of walking around Westmoreland Park when I lived nearby. Next time I am in Portland, I should really stop by and go for a walk there.
