9 days later – last stops
This series has run on and it’s now over nine days since my birthday, when my friend and I drove out into the Columbia Gorge. We drove east on Washington 14, on the north side of the Columbia River, out to The Bridge of The Gods at Cascade Locks, and then turned west again and drove The Old Columbia River Highway, the first paved road in the Northwest, in 1916.
We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls, where there is a restroom. There is a trail down into the hollow to see Bridal Veil Falls, that we did not go see this time, and a trail along the tops of the cliffs that stand above the river that we did walk:

I’m looking north, with the freeway, I-84, below me and the Columbia River in front of me.

50 years old – I made it!

WE did – she turned 50 in July (she’ll always be a little older than I am). I met her in 1981; she lives in Japan now and came to Oregon just for my 50th birthday; she’s known me since I was 19.

This was one day out out the twenty-one we had together. On other days we took as many or more pictures, so please stay tuned for more looks at Oregon’s beauty.
