A meme for Melondrop

Dictionary.com defines "meme" as: A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. The idea of the meme list is you leave me a note that you want me to meme you. I pick a few random entries from your diary and respond with the following:

links in blue)

1.  Something random:

Melondrop has been one of my longest-term readers.  Good way to score points with this Cat, for sure.

2.  The challenge:

Melondrop is considering not writing here any more, so my challenge to you is to take a break, maybe, but to stay here and tell us about your kids more – and about your husband, whom you obviously love very much.

3.  A color I associate with you:

Actually, I think of rainbows when I think of you.  I see the many different rainbow colors in you, as you see many different aspects of life in your family, coworkers, and as you ride your bike.

4.  Something I like about you:

I believe that the first time I heard from you, or maybe the first time I really remember reading your notes was when I posted a series of pictures about the Springwater Corridor bike trail through Southeast Portland. You like to fly on your bike too, and take joy in doing so.

5.  My first, clearest memory of you is as I said above, the notes you left on my second photo-essay series.  You added me to your Favorites list on 6/9/04, sending me a note asking if it was ok to do so (you are polite, too).  You’ve been a pretty constant noter of mine, someone I’ve come to look forward to being noted by.

6.  The animal you remind me of:

You remind me of a squirrel, and no, that’s no insult.  Squirrels are the most popular pet in Japan these days.  They are inquistive, graceful creatures whom I love to watch as they undulate across the powerlines above my street as they hunt for things to store at home for those winter days.  When I was in the Adult Foster Home after the car wreck I was in in 1998, as part of my task to learn how to walk again, I used to go across the street and sit and rest in the park and feed the squirrels peanut butter, and I maveled at how sleek and graceful they are.  You are sleek and graceful too – and you have your own Grace too, your daughter, who you mention frequently in your diary.

7.  Something I’ve always wanted to ask you:  You’ve mentioned that your marriage is a meeting of two cultures, that your husband’s Italian family contrasts to your English family background, and what I’ve always wanted to ask is how you met and married your husband.

The only stipulation with all this is: If I do this for you, you must post this on your diary and meme all who ask.

I really do appreciate your presence here.

Interesting. I hope Melondrop takes your advice and returns to OD after a break. I need to cut down on the time I spend here too. Yes…real life calls more demandingly.

These meme’s are interesting. It’s nice to see the side of an ODer that one of their favourites sees. RYN: All I know is 40c = 100f and that’s quite often what it gets up to in summer here.. even 110f at times ugh. Happily for me in Adelaide it’s usually a dry heat here.

Mel’s one of my very favorites, too. I’ve already left my pleading note(s) with her to stay here ever and ever, but I think she’s going to take it day by day. Pretty good meme 🙂

I’ve sent you a letter.

Ahh sounds cute. I hope that your friend doesn’t stop writing here. It can be a nice way to meet other people, and for a lot of us I think it’s very therapeutic. Well, I hope that you’re having sweet dreams. Goodnight.

did you feel the quake this early morning?

Sounds good. 🙂 Did you ever do a meme for me? I only ask because I am afraid that I might have missed it or something. I don’t want to miss it! 🙂

Insightful – both your description of Melondrop and your powers of observation
