a short report
Parking in downtown Portland is like it is in other big cities, expensive and hard to find, so I took the bus downtown and got to the location of my interview 45 minutes early. I didn’t go right in, of course; going downtown has become unusual since I don’t go down there to get the newspapers anymore, so I had time to hang out and look around.
Nice scenery downtown.
The interview went well, I think. I spoke positively and had answers for those interview questions, the ones you don’t know how to answer. I was prepared, because of yesterday’s practice, and had a valid explanation on why I haven’t worked recently that totally applied to the job in question: I have been a Care-Giver to my biker friend since March 31. I would be working with adult men with learning disabilities, and in parting I said that my life experiences and recent experiences will make me an asset to the company and to the people "we" help.
I was asked "what rights and responsibilities do the disabled have", to which I replied, "the same rights as you and I do, and to treat others as they’d like to be treated". the interviewer said she’d never heard it put that way, and I said "they are people too". I walked out, thanking everyone for the interview and expressed a wish to see them again, wished them a good weekend, and walked through downtown to catch a bus home. That bus let me off a mile from home – I took 2 to get downtown, but wanted the walk to think and go over the interview.
I think I did well, and said good things, and I was positive and polite. With no effort, btw, because that’s who I really am. I was told that they were doing interviews through Wednesday, so I most likely won’t hear until after that, but, hey, it’s all good practise if nothing else.
A cup of coffee and I’ll drive down and deal with the prescriptions – I didn’t miss any today, and it will continue to be a Good Day.
And (you know this) Onwards.

glad it went well for you.

Wishing you the best of luck. Don’t forget to send your thank-you letter follow-up. That’s what reels ’em in. 🙂

I like your response about the rights of the disabled. The rights of disabled people to live life and live it to the fullest is something near and dear to me own heart. Good luck with the job. I do hope you get.
