The Deschutes River canyon.

The Deschutes is a popular rafting river north of this location, but here, I am on the Warm Springs Reservation, and the focus of this series of pictures is on the Tribal fishing area I came across.  Look carefully and you will see platforms over the river to spear salmon from.  There is a fish ladder too – salmon are born in fresh water streams and swim to the ocean, where they live for a few years before they swim back to where they were born to spawn more salmon.

I had this place virtually to myself – a couple of railroad maintenance trucks were here when I first got here, the guys using the restrooms, I guess, but when they left, it was only me and the wind.
