On our last France post, we saw some individual trees, and I said something about how we have more to look at; here are some not so individual trees:

These pictures were taken early last spring – late winter, and this one here has been severally pruned for the season. I’m sure that it’s for a good reason, but I don’t know it, so will not hazard a guess. Anyone have a better idea than I do?

Beyond these trees lie the town walls. Once upon a time, town had definate limits – walls, like these here.

It was late winter when K* made this trip – the trees here tell me so.

Somewhere in the not so distance past, I mentioned that this series of pictures has pictures of a castle or manor house or some sort of fortified ancient structure, and thanks to your patience, we are finally at the point of seeing what I mean.
In the next series, we’ll see things that are only recreated here in the US (and most especially, here in Oregon, which dates it’s statehood only back to 1859.
