Friday

It’s Thanksgiving Dinner day at the Housing Authority building I live in.  Every year, we have a T-Giving Day meal here, about a week ahead of time – the staff has a lot of next week off.

Unfortunately, my appointment for a SNAP card – food stamps – is at 2, the same time the dinner starts here.   I’m friends with the cook – maybe she’ll make a plate for me that I can pick up when I get home.

K* called last night.  I had emailed her about what’s been going on lately, and got her approval of the way it went down.  She knows me really well, so I told her the way it went down, even though that’s not flattering to me (y’all got MY version of events, but she got the whole truth).

She thinks it is a good thing; that the paper job was like a seat cushion in a plane crash – a flotation device to (barely) keep my head above water.  Now that that cushion is gone, I HAVE to swim.  It was too easy to cling to a shitty job – I need to find a better one.

I’m 48 now.  I don’t have to put up with bullshit, and I will say something if that’s what I’m handed.  You don’t want a scene?  Don’t fuck me over.

It will be below freezing for the next week at night and in the early mornings.  8 hours of standing there in a frozen warehouse making papers that I’m getting less than 10% of for the weekend papers?  Fuck you.

No regrets.

I’ve been thinking:  This Saturday night will be the first Saturday night I’ve had off since the first week of 09.  The one before that was in 2008, and the one before that  was in July 08.  This’ll be the first weekend I’ve had completely off in years.

Slight change in plans:

Monday, Monacita and the Dolphin are supposed to go on a road trip with me.  I was thinking of driving out to the John Day Fossil Beds Nat’l Monument, to the Blue Basin unit to take some pictures, but it’s looking like heavy snow in the mountains, below pass level, this weekend and into next week.  It’s a long drive – two tanks of gas – and perhaps, given the job situation, I don’t HAVE to go that far.  I’ll talk it over with the girls.  Monacita says she’s up for anything.

Maybe we’ll just have a day in the gorge – I know a tour we could take, or maybe we’ll go to Stonehenge, out by Maryhill, Washington.

Either way, expect a trove of new photos next week.
