good news, of sorts

Well, the hospital is NOT discharging my friend today, and they don’t do discharges on Sundays, so I suppose my prayers have been answered and "A" will stay in the hospital a little longer.

It is the best place for him right now. I know there are worries about MRSA and picking up other germs and viruses – hospitals are full of sick people, after all, but he is not capable of being by himself right now and is so medicated that he needs 24/7 care. There is such a thing as getting out of the hospital too early.

To recap, my friend was in a motorcycle accident on March 31 and broke/fractured nine ribs, hit his head hard enough to black out for an hour or more, broke/fractured the L4 Vertebrate in his lower back, broke his nose, and had this that and the other injury. He’s only been out of ICU for a couple of days, and really should not go home and be alone. I know he probably wants to be at home in his more lucid moments, but it’s not time yet – he belongs in the hospital.

I’ve been going down to his home in Oregon City more or less twice a day to feed and water his Pit Bull. She is depressed and misses her master, and while she’s glad to see me, I’m not "A".

All things in their own time.

I just finished reading your last entry and you must have just posted this one. It’s good A will be there until Monday, at least. Maybe you can find some clothing of A’s that you can let his dog have outside…something to carry his smell. That might make her feel a little better. Could you take her photo for A, to show him she is doing ok?
