I have long thought

I have long thought that I live in the best part of the country for weather.

That Big Snow Storm that they were predicting didn’t do much to Portland. It began snowing before 11 pm – quiet stuff, that snow. I didn’t notice and I wasn’t home and had to drive home on fresh snow, but it changed to rain while I slept and most of the snow was gone the next day.

Watching the Evening News last night though, I see dire predictions for most of the West Coast. Big Time snow in Seattle – and they are more used to rain. It looks like – and they said just now – that it will RAIN here all day. All of the next seven days too

Given the way the roads looks, with lots of flooding and 17th Ave is a parking lot as it goes by my apartment, I am glad I’m not driving anywhere.

By the way, when it began snowing the other night, I would have grabbed my Blacky Cat to show him – it hasn’t snowed here, really, since the winter of 08-09. I did grab my new camera and took some balcony shots.

Hand-held shot, no tripod, no flash(!).

I’ve been learning this new camera’s styles, although, I am surprised by how these pics came out; I wouldn’t even have tried these shots with my other camera, without a tripod.

All of that snow melted within the day, yesterday, so now we are having flooding issues, joining the "downed trees" issues and the high water levels of rivers and streams.

Nice shots with your new camera. Boy, that’s a lot of rain. I hope it doesn’t last for a week.
