It finally happened….

Well it finally happened.  I don’t know what went wrong, but the computer stopped working right – lost my destop and could not use the mouse and little showed on the monitor except the wallpaper; I had to pull the plug to shut down the computer.

At that point, I said "fuck this shit" and pulled the computer out of it’s cabinet and disconnected the IDE hard drive – it’s gotta be 7 or 8 years old now.  Two weeks ago, I bought an SSD drive – no moving parts, no heat generated, and brand fucking new.

I’ve had some practise at reformatting the machine….

Screw with me again, computer, and I will intoduce you to my Louisville Slugger (that’s a baseball bat, in case you don’t know).

147 downloads from Microsoft and five hours later, and I can get online again. 

BFD, right.

I still have a lot to do with this POS.  I mean, I love my desktop computer, but one more time, and it’s baseball time and I will just buy a laptop instead.

Luckily, I got a BIG USB hard drive in March, so I don’t think I’ve lost much… but that’s yet to be seen.

Ok.  The basic computer works.  # hours of trashing around and the video card and both monitors work.  I didn’t do anything to the sound card and it works too.

Why the scanner won’t install will have to wait – the printer too, because I feel a need to walk the hell away from this machine.

I’m not the brightest penny in the fountain – could be why I make so much trouble for myself on these things (computers).

I swear I’m gonna buy a laptop….

(Cuz I don’t know anything about them and don’t even know if they come apart)

I am sorta glad there was no bourbon around – I can go for a drive, not a walk, and drinking and computer maintenance do not really get along.

That’s like 8 hours, just to get this thing online.  Well, ok, 5 -6, to get online, but that was well before I was done… and I guess I’m still not, but at least I got music.
