It’s gonna be tight
Shit. I forgot about the insurance. It’s due the 8th and will be deducted from my checking account… and I don’t have enough in there. I had some left on my Visa card though, and paid it with that, but I was going to use that credit for gas money. I’ll get my bus check the 24th (unless it comes early for Christmas) and then I will have plenty of money.
I have three weekends of papers to drop off before I go, so there is money coming in from that, but as it stands right now, it looks like it’s going to be VERY tight. I’ll have to come up with the cash for my cat sitter – I want to pay that in advance, and I’ll have to come up with misc. expense money for the drive down. I’ve got most of the next car payment set aside already – $75 more and I’ll pay that, on time, this month, but the operation and the time lost off work (even though I was on paid leave, it was the contract amount I was paid, not the "real" hours I work) and that speeding ticket (first one in all my years of driving) that have put a real crimp in my expenses.
All the bills are paid, except for the car, and I’ll have that to pay by the 17th. I’ve got a few things I was going to Ebay or something, but I’ve run out of time to do that, I think. Hopefully, I can talk my papers boss into giving me the check early, or at least first thing Monday the 22nd, when I was planning on leaving here – I can hit a bank on the way down. I’m counting on the fact that January is the five year mark of working for him, and that should count for something. I really wanted to leave EARLY on the 22nd, but I can wait around some to get the check for that weekend’s work.
There’s no way I’m not going to do this thing, going to SoCal to see family I haven’t seen for HALF my life, and the real probability that I will see my brother for the first time in 19 years. Fortunately, I bought the photo paper and the color ink cartridge a while back, so I can make those prints and not show up empty handed.
If I need to, (I want to avoid it, but…) I can hit the bank for a short term loan against my Direct Deposit, but I was holding the credit card as expense money, and the interest on that is about half of what a loan from the bank will cost. Checking the email just now, I saw that, oh shit, I forgot about the car inusurance and used the credit card for that.
It’s going to be tight, but I’m going to do it anyway – it is the story of my life, dammit, but when will I get another chance to do this thing? When? When pigs fly? Huh? As anyone knows who has read Dante’s Inferno. the lowest circle of Hell IS frozen over, so saying I’ll wait till that happens is tantamount to giving up.
No giving up. No surrender. I. will. make. this. happen.

Sigh, yeah, stuff is tight for me too. I am paying almost $600 a month in medical bills and funeral bills for Tim, not to mention my own medical bills rolling in now…

Something will come up and it will all work out. You’re a lucky cat… it may be tight but I know you’ll land on your feet.
