Johson Creek on July 3rd
Johnson Creek is a reliable photography model – it’s always there.

This is my friend’s street – above their house, yes, but it is a nice pocket of undeveloped land in the middle of a rapidly developing area of southeast Portland.

But, let’s see our model, shall we?
*

This is looking northwards towards Foster Blvd – one might notice just how low the water in the creek has become!

I was thinking, well, I haven’t really tried this macro thing out before… I wonder what it does for pictures?
A found this in the blue spruce in his backyard:

Lovely! As usual, lol….but you know that already. Love the birds nest. THanks for your kind note. You are one of the few people who seem to “get it” about why I am still with tim, given all the crap this last year or two. Linette

RYN: yes rabbits are intriguing little creatures. The cottontails you see are the only native rabbits in the U.S. Anything but a little brown bunny is a feral domestic…both are order lagomorphia but distantly related. The cottontail is lepus sylvilagus–thirteen species in the Americas. The domestic rabbits are domesticated 1000 yrs ago from Oryctolagus cuniculus, the European rabbit. Linette

ryn. Don’t laugh at me … a giraffe. Then I thought about it and realize you are what I drew a black panther … he he he. I guess you would have to know me and my weird humour. Personally I think of myself as a horse because I have a horsey face. te he he he.

RYN: National Geographic had an article/ad (hard to tell the difference sometimes) about how macro lenses are good for taking portraits…because the subject is in high focus while the background is fuzzed out, allowing the subject to be further emphasized. Made sense to me. My macro setting only works with very close subjects so it wouldn’t be suitable for portraits.

lol I always think of the Jonathon creek tv show when I see this.. I don’t know why. Sadly I’ll only be in Seattle for about 2 days so not much time to go anywhere else. But, in a couple of years I’ll definately be down that way.

oh and stunning photos – as usual

I noticed how the waterlevel had dropped before I read your commentary. It shows how taking photos makes a good record of time and what time does to things. For instance, a brand new house built on an empty peice of land, is quite boring. But inthe future their may be a garden. In ten years time, the trees will have grown, the house may have changed colour,.It will look older, more lived in,

and much cosier. It will have developed it’s own character..(Hopefully a nice one) and it will still be serving the pupose it was always intended for..to be a home for the family that lives within.A place to share a life, and friends, and the good and bad times that come with the ebb and flow of life……

A closer picture of that old home would be nice too!! I think it looks lovely just the way it is. In fact old homes are my favorites!!

Dirt roads give a place such a wonderful country feel.We still have alot of them here too. I think of the days when horses and carts used to travel on ruts and how they’d love our tar raods. But dirt roads are a nice way to feel like you’re not really in the city, but out in the peace of farm lands. with space to move and fresh air to breath.

RYN: Good move…getting something down on paper is the first step…we can all help. I’ve spent a lot of my life looking for work. I read “What Colour Is My Parachute” when I was looking for work during the big recession in the 1980s and it is the gold standard for job search. Are you far from a library…you could just walk and read parts of it there. Some of it is online.

What do you like the most about Johnson creek?
Warning Comment
Just an idea. You would make a great tour guide. I think you have a talent for it.It is staring you in the face.Look at your diary. All you need is to swap your van for one with seats and you could take tourist around the mountians , and tell them all about them. You would be really good at it!

They live on a nice road! And the creek, as always, is beautiful! hugs, Weesprite
