I called about the school bus driver job this afternoon after I woke up from a good seven or eight hours of sleep. It sounds like a very good job. There are benefits- health and retirement benes, set hours, and PAID TRAINING.

In the late 80’s-early 90’s, I did have a commercial driver’s license – I drove trucks for delivery in the 11 Western States and delivered glass and windows in Oregon, Washington, and northern California. I have driven everything from a VW Bettle to a semi pulling doubles and all sorts of cars, pickup trucks, and vans; and have had a driver’s license since I was 18. I have even had a Japanese driver’s license, and have driven many hundreds of thousands of miles in four countries, accident free.

I have a fairly clean driving record – granted, I did drink and drive and wreck my car in 1998, but I did not hurt anyone else and it was more than 8 years ago that I did that. Previous to that, I had a clean record- no tickets for anything but parking violations.

I will go pick up the application on Monday – it is not actually for the school I saw the ad at, but rather for the North Clackamas School District. They’ll need a resume and two letters of recomendation, which I have already secured. One will be from my landlord, at the building where I have lived for more than seven years, and the other will come from my boss on the paper routes, where I have worked for 2 and a half years continously.

Tha landlord pointed out that I have volunteered for almost a year with the resident coffee program and did a good job at it. I have no criminal record. My credit record sucks, true, but I am a nice, polite guy who works hard and gives his loyalty to his employers all the time. I served in the US Navy as a ship’s engineer, have done security work, and have lived and worked in Japan for a Japanese company (in Japanese) and have taught all ages of Japanese the English language.

I look good in print and am a good person. I am decently groomed, speak well (when I have to, lol) and am an all around decent human being. I am a regular blood donor who has donated more than two gallons of blood. If it counts for anything, I have written and maintained a blog that is read and admired throughout the world.

I think highly of myself and so do many others. I like the sound of this job and am hoping that they like me.

Good luck! I really mean that. I’m just saying. Cuz it’s so easy to toss off a “good luck”.

The best thing you can do is to like yourself. If you want the job, I hope you get it. RYN: Thanks. The students will be coming from all over – once the school gains momentum. It does not look like my cup of tea.

Sounds very promising–sure hope you get it and like it. 😀 The health and retirement bennies sound terrific! Personally, if I had to drive a bus load of kids around, I’d go nuts inside of a week, but that’s just me! lol!

Best of luck with the job. LOL @ the blog CV. I think I will update my own resume :0) You could add photographer extraordinaire!!

Excellent! This sounds fabulous! It’ll definitely be loud on the bus, but you might really enjoy this job! I’d highly recommend not smoking at all, not having any smoke smell on you. Helps with a good first impression. Good luck, I think you can do this. Maybe ask angels to help you. 🙂 A little bit of help might just smooth the deal. 🙂

Great idea! Good for you! Good luck. I can’t wait to hear what ends up happening. By the way, no one can ever truly like you as much as you do. How can someone truly like you if you don’t like yourself, am I right?

I Sweetie! Those re really good jos. I know many school bus drivers. I have alot of respect for them. Good Luck! Hope everythings been good with you… Missed you!

ryn: thanks for your feedback. I just mentioned parents because I was posting on the children/parents circle, should have worded that better, I guess. I think an objective person can let me know if it sounds ok. 🙂 At least it’s a job I feel good about, first one so far. I’d forgotten what that feels like, tho I expect you know that feeling right now too. 🙂 and the nicorette gum sounds great.
