Holy shit, the end of the year snuck on me and is Tomorrow!
Omg!

I got all the brakes done on the van. I paid for the front ones and charged the back brakes. What a difference good brakes all around makes! They told me to take it easy for the first 1000 miles, but I really haven’t been driving it very differently- I was taking it easy on the van before I had the brake job done. It stops so much better – not that it was bad, bad before, but still, I feel a real difference.
I love when I spend money on my vehicle and feel a difference.
I guess the drive shaft on the driver’s side really was in need of attention- there is a lack of noise that I had become accustomed to hearing. It feels a little friskier – better acceleration, and since I finally got the A/C belt tight enough, I can take full advantage of dehumidified air to defog the windows, which have been misted over by all the humidity we’ve had fall from the sky.
There are flood warnings all over the city- especially along Johnson Creek where my friends live. Here we see it a month or so ago:

And here it is the day before yesterday:

Tonight the water is up to the top of the banks. The city dropped off loads of sand and sand bags and they have some inches of water in their shed, it has rained SO much.
This morning as I drove around my routes, there were flooded sections and high waters here and there. It not only rained, it RAINED. I felt very fortunate with my new brakes and tires – fortunate and secure.

I’ve been either sleeping or doing things in Real Life that have kept me away from my OD friends, so I’m behind on so many lives. I’ve been being a good friend in Real Life too though- A’s son L. who is in the Navy, was up from San Diego visiting, and it’s handy to have a friend with a mini-van, isn’t it?
It’s fun to be the mini-van friend too. ya know.

Well, SS hasn’t come through yet, so the worry I had about the taxes etc. on that are set off till next year….which is the day after tomorrow.
Wow.

2005 was the best year yet, all things considered.
I’m doing what I want to do, driving for a living. My mini-van is not just a convenience, it works for it’s living. I’ve driven it 11,094 miles since I I got it in April 05. It has been a willing beast. It has not standed me. It has done it’s tasks faithfully and dependably. And the A/C works!
My life is nearly complete.

at least your fog doesn’t FREEZE when it covers the inside of your windows. ryn: if ya did, I wouldn’t mind.

Nice photos…I’m eying them up, looking for ideas. Flood water looks like a completely different substance. I hate floods, they scare me. Your van is a trusty steed. I catch myself patting the hood of my car once in awhile.

I like the sunlight and reflection in the top photos.

Got the Shark’s brakes fixed yesterday too. It had been going through brake fluid like koolaid. They put in a master cylinder. I quit driving the Escort because it needed brake work. Oh, well, you need a vehicle that will stop.

RYN: Thanks for your kind comments about my first efforts on the photography front. I really have no idea why my photos are showing up the size they are…they are all different and I have no idea why. I might have to break down and read the camera manual. So far I’m in click and point mode and just experimenting with the software.

RYN: Again…thank you for the technical information…I’ll give it a try. The photo of me is completely untouched, transfered to photobucket and not resized. It is about the size I want to use. By the way, I was hoping to get a “atta girl” type comment from you today to boost my confidence in my photography so thanks.

Be careful of the rain, my dear Cat! So glad you got your faithful beast taken care of, and glad you are seeing your R/L friends too. Have a Happy New Year, and may you have wonderful things happen for you in the coming year! ~the feline~ 😉

Gosh! I wish we had some of that rain here in central Texas. Here in Austin, we are ten inches below our normal 32 inches of rainfall. Wild fires have been breaking out all over the state because everything is so dry.

WOW, floods can be scary things. It is a beautiful creek though…. even when it’s close to the top! I think it’s neat that you enjoy your job so much. I felt that way about some of the jobs I’ve had as well. I’m glad your brakes are fixed. Joey’s car is in the repair shop!! I sure hope any money he has to spend makes a difference also!!!! Happy New Year! hugs, Weesprite
