No pithy title

I lost my job with the newspaper.

It’s quite possible I talked myself out of it when the boss called me in this morning re the scuffle with the other Daily driver.

Telling me I was "just the weekend driver" kinda screwed the pooch for me.  Almost 7 years of totally reliable service, but I’m "just" the weekend driver.

I was getting tired of it, and the steady decline in pay and the increase in work.  Plus, the people I worked with and the product I delivered.

"Do you have some medical problem?" the boss says to me when I got hot about the other daily driver.

Yeah, maybe, I says to myself, but…

I’ll be able to see that I’ve just about thrown this job away later, but that’s pretty disheartening so I don’t want to see it yet.

Personally, I have little respect for people who hire and keep scammers – and I’m sure that the other daily driver’s scamming the boss.

Maybe he feels like he’s doing the old guy a favor – apparently he was thinking I was going to give up 150 papers on the weekend for a few days of 20 dollar dailies to the Daily driver.

I told Housing immeadiately, and they said, "oh, you’re getting Unemployment too?"  They hadn’t figured that into my rent/income and so now I’ll owe hundreds to Housing.

Timing sucks.

On the other hand though, it feels good to clear the slate and start over.
