On the beach 1
US 101 is a very scenic highway. It runs from San Diego, California to the Canadian border, along the west coast of the United States. The coastline in Oregon is paticularly pristine, free of the commercial development that ruins the natural beauty of the coast in California.
North of the Oregon Dunes, shown in the last two entries, is Cape Perpetua, near Yachats, site of one of Oregon’s lighthouses:

Near Cape Perpetua, we stopped along the highway to see the beach:

It was rather far below us here; we kept driving until 101 got nearer to the beach.
