Oregon’s Painted Hills ss
The day after I got my black Caliber, I drove out to the Painted Hills unit of The John Day Fossil Beds, in central Oregon:
532 miles round trip. These are hills of volcanic ash, and are very colorful – but it was raining the day we went, and totally changes the place’s character. A good break-in drive for a new car too – along the Columbia on I-84 and country highways to the Hills, US 26 back to Portland over Mt. Hood – a good drive.

btw. I found out who that reader is who reads lots of pages at time but never leaves a note – grrrr Their ISP is in Cornelius, OR, nearby and I was so wtf about it – who IS that? I’ll block ’em – no notes and hundreds of pages read – grrrr. Turns out it’s me. Had not set Sitemeter to ignore my Google Chrome web browser. Doh!

Beautiful imagery. One thing I adore about the western side of the US: colorful, colorful, colorful… mother nature painted it in hues of “gorgeous.” I hope to one day make it to the northwest, with my cameras…

ryn–Yes, you’ve got that right (about my dying company). I enjoyed your new photos, as always. I’ve never been to the Pacific Northwest and can barely imagine the scenery. Ohio’s lovely, I think, but so less dramatic.

lmao now that’s funny
