Photos by request / more

It is a brilliant day outside; the sun is out, there are few clouds in the sky, and it’s a balmy 37 degrees F.   The day matches my mood; it was a very good day for mail.  I have some Thank You notes to write.  I have a full tank of gasoline – 335 miles of driving, the car says.  I don’t have and did not buy any cigarettes… today, and I won’t get any more.  (although I can, now, I won’t)

Blacky Cat’s Vet’s appointment is in an hour; in about 35 minutes I will begin to get him in his cat carrier.  I don’t expect that to go very smoothly – I mean, he sleeps in the box, under my bed, but he’s like his master:  there’s a real difference between "I choose to" and "I have to".  He will get an exam and a blood glucose test, and another bottle of insulin will be prescribed.  We won’t need it for a few days – he gets 4 unit shots twice a day, and that bottle, even nearly empty, lasts longer than I think it will.  When he needs more, we’ll have it taken care of.

I asked for some photo requests last week – I took care of one yesterday (and have more to do to make a tgp entry out of some more pictures) and will fill one more now, here.  I am working on a request for river traffic – tug boats and cargoes, but am not yet satisfied with the few pics I’ve got.

I do have some cat pictures to post here now:

A smaller version of this picture is on my Profile page here.  This was, amazingly, taken almost 7 years ago.  Cats don’t show much age until they are very near the end of their lives.  The caption on the profile has said (it may not now) that this is "the real NorthwesternCat".

Here’s Blacky indulging in some Cat Nip; that pie pan usually has some in it, because he rarely eats it all.  He never did like that cat bed behind him; we don’t have it any more.

Blacky might meow that this is his best side; it depends on how he feels, maybe:

If he doesn’t like that food in the bowl, I see this side of him more.

When I had a couch (before it got shredded), he liked to lie there and keep an eye on things:

I bought that blanket in Mexico in 1987, I think it was, and I still have it… and, it’s doesn’t get too black, if I wash it every so often.

He’s sleeping against a pair of German wool army trousers – they were warm and I liked them, and, umm, they shrank in the wash and I can’t wear them any more.

Uh huh.

Heres’s Blacky back in 2000, when he was a bitty little kitty:

He believes that table is His, and lets me eat there sometimes.

<span style="font-size: sm

all”>(shhhh… he is asleep in his carrier, and the appointment is in 45 minutes.  I will steathily close the door of the carrier and we’ll have no extra fun, trying to go to the vet’s.  Shhhhh)

Does YOUR cat have his own toothbrush?

For some reason, he loves to lick that toothbrush, even though it has been many years since I’VE used it – we don’t share.

When we had the couch, that was "his", he thought, and slept on it any way he liked:

Back when I first got him, he fit nicely on my arm:

Now he takes up the whole arm and loves to bury his face into my armpit and PURR.  Silly cat.

Does YOUR cat have his own kitchen drawer?

That used to be my paper bag drawer… now it is one of the places he likes to sleep in warmer seasons.

I suppose you could say he’s got me wrapped around his tail… and I’d have to agree.

"Thanks" he says, " for wanting to see me.  "I AM a BEAUTIFUL cat"

he he he.  time to go to the vet.  shhhh…..

After the Vet:

Blacky is doing VERY well.  Of course, he has the best master/human a cat could want.  We will get the blood test results back tomorrow, but he looks good, feels good, isn’t too overwieght, and, other than being REALLY unhappy at the Vet’s, is doing fine.  He has, I dare to put in writing, a long life ahead of him.

These are great pics of Blackie Cat. What luxurious fur–it looks so soft and warm! 🙂 My favorite is the very last picture–what a study in kitty dignity! 🙂

I’ve got a cool picture of our cat 8-ball (also all black) stretched out on the couch with my daughter when she was just a few months old…they look so cute! Your cat on his back on the couch reminded me of that.

*big smile* He’s beautiful

Love the pics. That is sooo cute of him stretched out on the couch. Your blanket will be 25 years old next year.

He’s a doll!
