Second interview
I interviewed with a place out near the Gorge in May and they called me back for a second interview today.
My work history in the last so many years is sort of spotty, and I didn’t have phone numbers for my last two jobs on my resume. I just phoned them in. I don’t have them memorized, and I have a different phone now, and never did program that phone with old numbers I don’t need now.
It’s all on the computer, in one form or another, so I had to come home and get that information to the interviewer. I have a days’ work with "my girl" out in Cornelius to morrow, so on Friday, I’ll need to go back to the company I interviewed with today, and pick up the forms for a piss test, to take that day, as part of the background investigation.
It’s the third or fourth one done on me, so I’m not worried about that. I’ve never been arrested or charged with any crimes, and the DUI ticket I got in 1998 is off the publicly available driving report, so all I need to do is pee in a little cup. I hate those tests. If I lived in Colorado or Washington, where dope is now legal to buy and sell and smoke, I wonder what would happen. State laws are not above Federal laws.
There’ll be a real debate before long about that. It has been a pointless waste of lives and money, but the drug "war" is big business, making money for Police Departments and prisons all over the US. Civil Forfeiture laws have been … used to ruin people, even if the charges don’t stick. The money and things taken are sold or used by the arresting agency, supplementing their budgets. Piss tests are a big industry by themselves.
I would never do that job. I’ve had choices all along, and there are things I will not do, jobs I will not take. Life is choices, and I have some.
Helping people who need help – that’s what I want to do.

Very interesting. Grab for every brass ring you see, it may prove a very interesting and useful lead. 🙂

Hmm. This did not post, apparently, when I wrote it, but here it is, and since nothing happened when I saved it, I almost posted it twice. OD, what’s up?

well if you can make the two jobs work together this will be nice

I would think it would still be a problem even if it were legal there, because it can impair your job performance. Legality isn’t the issue, impairment is. I know you wouldn’t smoke on the job but they don’t know that.
