short update

My friend looks better today than he did yesterday, a good thing.  His lady friend (he denies that she’s a "girlfriend") was there too, so we talked about getting the dog food and water tomorrow.  "A" did indeed break his back, at the L4 vertebrate in his lumbar spine.  Nine broken ribs, a fractured skull, the broken back – although we did not speak of it, I think this is a life-changing event in my friend’s life – he turns 61 in July, and I don’t think things will ever be as they were before this.

Which, of course, I did not mention, because even if he’s thought of it, it doesn’t need to be talked about yet,  I foresee a lot of my help being given later on though – for one thing, his ’99 Mustang will be hard to get into and out of, the seats are so low, and my Caliber is much easier to get in and out of.  It may end up being a good thing I did the Medical Transport gig in 2011 – I have experience, having helped 104 people get to and from places they needed to go.

We’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.  For now, "A" looks better and is in the best hands, at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU).

I’m glad to hear your biker friend is starting on the long path to recovery. You are right, things like this are game changers.

It’s good you saw improvement in A right away. Those are serious injuries. It’s a good thing he has the best of care and a good friend like you.

I used to think that a broken back automatically meant that the person would never be able to walk again, but this is not always the case it seems. On a side note, how on earth (and why) did you keep track of all the people that you transported with the medical transport place. I did that for two months and have no idea how many people I transported LOL.

Wow, that’s rough. If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. I told my BFF that just the other day. She’s been through some tuff stuff lately. I hope your friend is okay.

I’m glad your friend has you to visit with him 🙂
