short update on Wednesday night

"A" has been moved out of Intensive care and into a more regular hospital room, and he will meet his rehabilitation team tomorrow.  His lady friend and I will get together on Friday to plan our course, subject to change, of course, and his son will be part of the "home team" for our friend when he gets out of the hospital.  His son drove up from Eugene tonight and I met him at the hospital; he may move up to Oregon City to take care of his dad.

In short, "A" is reaping what he sowed and he has people to help him and take care of him.  He is looking better today than yesterday and much better than the day before.  He is, I guess, not quite as badly injured as I was 15 years ago, but then, I didn’t break my back and only half as many ribs.  Both lungs were collapsed, and the brain injury was severe and I stayed in ICU a lot longer than 2 -3 days and I didn’t really wake up for almost another month, in a different hospital, but this is not a contest to see who was more damaged.  "A" will, however, recover faster than I did, and that’s nothing to complain about, is it.

It looks like, at this point, that he’ll be ok.  Not as "ok" as he was, no, but ok in that he’s likely not crippled and is already showing signs of recovery. It could be worse.

We will go onwards.

It must be comforting for A to have as friend who is as empathetic and knowledgeable as you are about his accident. I am so happy that his injuries are responding this early.
