So it goes. This is the way the system works; I sometimes wish I had a more visible disability.
On the other hand, even people with visible limitations – missing body parts and such – usually get denied the first time.
It works out to be a kind of test, and if you happen to give up or die, well, that works too.
I would suspect a kind of Jobs Program for legal staff and lawyers, but that’d be, like, paranoid, right, and so I guess I’ll write it like that and not comment.
I think the biggest lesson from the coma was that time goes on, whether or not I’m there You have to go with it or get left behind. I had a lot of catching up to do after that coma
Anyway, disappointment – I was hoping to be the Exception, ya know, cuz I’m like, vain like that, but ya know? Onwards. Haven’t heard from the disability reps yet, but it’s the weekend and next week I’ll know more.
The previous entry was once much longer and had a different tone.

Called the disability reps Monday… they have not called back. The VocRehab counselor says I’m not the only one to “have problems with TJ Maxx”. Apparent;y the republicans who own TJ’s thought they could profit off the disabled and took the money with no plan other than to take it. Who is the user abuser now?

Good question in your note above…not surprising that people outside the system are profiting.

Most lawyers don’t get paid much for SSI work. They’re not turning a profit. Most people who need SSI can’t afford to pay lawyers their regular rates. :/ try not to knock the lawyers, they’re not all greedy scum.

however, having said that, I do have a couple of suggestions: 1) see if there’s some sort of legal aid program you can contact 2) contact any of the local law schools in Portland – I know both L&C and the OU have law schools – and see what they can do. They may provide legal aid clinics for that kind of thing. We do – I interviewed for a position with ours last week actually – and I referred a friend who was denied twice to them for her third try. If they don’t have some sort of free or low-cost program themselves, they can recommend one.

It makes me wonder how the people you see on like, Judge Judy and crap get disability when they actually have nothing wrong with them. Just like most government systems, it is BROKEN. The people who need the help get denied. You should be persistent. Also, I like the idea of checking with a law school to see if there are any programs with law students to provide legal assistance. I know

around this area you can get work done on your car by automotive tech students at a local tech school for the cost of parts only. You can get cheap haircuts, styles, manicures, pedicures from cosmetology students and nearly free tooth cleanings from dental hygenists. I don’t see why a law school wouldn’t have a similar program – students need practice, people need legal advice.

To follow up on what red over red said, if they do have a program like that you would be working with a student under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Also, I hope you don’t think of me as a soon-to-be vulture.
