this is women's forum overlook, but it has another name too:

This is also know as Chanticleer Point, and this sign describes how this section of the Gorge was formed over time.  Flows of basalt left columnar walls, which the river, time, and ice have separated.  On that map above, you can kind of see how my river flows down from Canada to the sea.

in tribute to my father

This is my father’s tripod- older than I am and still working fine.  It has been all over, and here it poses for me in tribute to my dad, who introduced me to photography, and who would be so pleased at what I’ve done with it since.

But, enough with me – let’s see the view!

Why Cat, I always thought you might be an alien–your glowing belly button in the first pic proves it! 😛 I know all these areas–driven them many times on my way to the Dalles–How lovely to see it all again–I never get tired of the Gorge. And, as usual, your photographs are superlative!

The basalt walls remind me of Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland… and that is cool that you still have your father’s tripod. 😀

Hi! The creation scientists have shown how these types of Georges can be made after a catostrophic flood and an ice age that came afterwards. They have even explained how the grand canyon was formed rapidly, not over millions of years. This george was probably created the same way. Evolutionists always want to make out that everything takes million of years. But it is not always the case.

The world wide flood in Noahs time recreated the surface of the whole earth. Deep caverns of artesian water were opened up causing water to cascade upwards hundreds of feet into the air, while torrential rain poured incessantly over the earth.Wide spread catastrophic floods merged causing water to gush at enormous speed across the lands. It gouged out huge patterens in our landscape, and changed

everything in it’s pathway. After the flood water receded, volcanos errupted and earth quakes caused the land to rise and fall, creating those side ways patterns you see in rock cliffs. After all of it hardend erosion took over in the years to come to change the landscape further. All of this happened thousands of years ago,not millions.

Your dad would be proud to see what you are doing with the tripod.

That’s neat that you’re still using your Dad’s tripod. I am using my Brother’s camera and I think he’d be happy to see how much fun I have taking pictures with it. hugs, Weesprite
