the best of 2011-1 (ps)

I have been using Photobucket to hold and link to pictures and etc here on OD since 2004.  At first, I was using a free account, but passed the limits for that with the 500th picture.  I bought a membership after that – no limits, for just 25 bucks a year.  I kept the standard though – 500 pics or so to a folder.  2011 currently has two folders going – 2011-1 and 2011-2, for a total of 789 pictures.

For the last days of the year 2011, it is appropriate that I look through those folders and pick what I think are "the best", even though I will be adding to 2011-2 tomorrow after a road trip to Stonehenge.

Stonehenge in Washington state, not the "real" one in England.  Full size repro though – down to the millimeter.  Those pics will likely post tomorrow evening.

The best of 2011-1:

"Best" is not necessarily a descriptor for the photographic merits of the picture:

"Best" also decribes the day I had when the pictures were taken, and this was a Good Day, and that’s Mt. Hood behind my car.

In fact, that was a Very Good Day:

Not every pic in the folder was taken in 2011, but I like this shot of me:

Bridal Veil Falls in the Columbia Gorge.

There was hardly any snow falling last winter:

These pics were posted in 2011, but this one is from the 1980’s, in Japan:

btw, that black speck on the lake with a wake behind it is the tour boat that runs every hour around and across the lake, using electric motors, because Crater Lake has some of the cleanest and clearest water anywhere – visibility is over 129 feet through this water.  It is one of the deepest lakes in the world though, at over 1920 feet deep, so the light doesn’t ever get to the bottom of the lake.

I like this pic of me too, beside the Columbia River:

Tells me what kind of year 2011 was – most of these pics are from other years, but uploaded to Photobucket in 2011.
