The Columbia Gorge on Monday
It has been VERY windy here.
The Columbia Gorge is a funnel through the spine of the Cascade Range of mountains, connecting the valleys to the Columbia Basin behind the mountains. A high pressure system off the coast sucks the wind through the Gorge and over the valleys at high speeds. A gust at Crown Point, near the Gorge’s mouth, was measured at 105 miles an hour.
See how the wind whips up the river and creates a multitude of rainbows over it?

This shot is from the cliff trail at Bridal Veil Falls park, looking north across the river at the Washington side of the Gorge.

Do you think we’ll actually be getting snow on Sunday as predicted?
Warning Comment
It was cold and windy that day, but it sure was beautiful. Thank you for inviting me along.
