The Oregon Dunes 2

The previous entry showed off my friend’s pictures; these are mine from the Oregon Dunes.

The access point to the dunes off US 101 lead to the sand dunes above the beach:

The coast here is covered by BIG sand dunes:

Marked trails lead from here to the beach below.

*

The dunes are made mostly of quartz sand, from the ages of wear and tear on the mountains that line the coast.

*

*

*

The sand is fluid; it moves and covers everything:

If it hadn’t been so windy, it would have been almost hot on the sand:

Looking northwest:

The dunes here are immense:

(incidentally, this is picture number 10,000, the ten thousandth picture I have uploaded to Photo Bucket.  It is not totally inappropriate that this is a picture of my 31 year friend)

Grasses and trees hold the sand:

In the previous entry there is a picture of me on top of a dune, captioned "You shoot up and I’ll shoot down, eh?"

Going north on US 101, the mountains create rocky headlands and narrower beaches, and we spent alot of time on the beach near Yachats, in the next few series of pictures.

RYN: Yes, that would be nice to get together sometime. I moved back to Vancouver. Sorry I didn’t get back sooner – lost my baby on Saturday so I haven’t been on here much anymore.
