Tuesday Misc
I woke up around 1:30 this afternoon and was sipping my coffee, wondering what to do with myself. The lights went on as I poured my second cup and realised that I had meant to go take the four DMV tests I need for the school bus driving job.
I had gotten the DMV manual last week and had read it, pretty confident I would have no trouble passing the tests – I had a truck driving license 12 years ago or so. I had meant to do the tests on Friday, but the lines were very long at the DMV, and they don’t give tests after 4 pm. so I skipped it and planned on doing them this week. I work harder on the weekends than other days, so I slept in Monday and made today the goal.
I so wanna say that I aced all four tests, that I had the best scores the testers had ever seen, that they threw a party for me when I passed them all.
Well, three out of four ain’t so bad…and no, I didn’t ace any of them, but passed three of them no problem. I am sort of ashamed to say that I did not pass the school bus driving test.
It was the shortest test of the four, and missing two questions gave me a failing score. Damn.
I will of course retake the test tomorrow, and will pass it.
It’s sort of ironic. I drove up to Lloyd Center mall and parked there, because the MAX light rail line is free in an area called Fareless Square, which extends all the way across the river to Lloyd Center. As I was riding the train, my cell phone rang and it turned out to be the Transpo manager from the school district I had applied to, telling me of a study group for the tests that meets on Friday. I told him I was on my way to take the tests right then, so he laughed and wished me good luck.
The train was pretty packed, so I didn’t do any studying as I stood there and held on, and although I got off the train ten blocks from the DMV, I don’t have the talent of reading and walking at the same time on crowded city streets. While I waited for my tests, I did leaf through the manual. The questions on the test that I missed concerned morror placement and distances. More study will fix that.
I walked back to Courthouse Square and caught the train back to Lloyd Center, and since it was 5 pm already, the train was more packed than I’ve ever seen it before. Had this been just after the car wreck, I wouldn’t have gotten on – I had space issues, that, thankfully, do not seem to be there anymore.
I don’t have tonight off like I usually do – the boss, who does the Tuesday night/Wednesday morning deliveries usually, needed to trade days off, so I’ll have tomorrow night off instead of tonight. I plan to study a bit, eat some dinner, and then get some more sleep before I work tonight. All said to excuse me from the writing I thought I might do today re my past, and etc.
Stay tuned, in other words, lol

Ah, tests. You’d think that after school you wouldn’t have to take anymore. Well, good luck on round two. 🙂

It is 10:10 p.m. and I am exhausted. I am using “too much weekend” as my excuse, but it might just be something in the air.
