Your Thunder’s meme

Your Thunder is a diarist from Australia.  She has been writng here for years, first on Teen Open Diary* as The Disguised Pirate and now on Open Diary itself.

1.  Something random:

your thunder and her boyfriend

And the pic off her front page:

This is Your Thunder and her exchange-student boyfriend, who is from Norway.

2.  A challenge:  Do you have a camera?  If so, I challenge you to take pics of ordinary sights there in Australia, because most of your readers may never have seen what Australia looks like in daily life.  I see that you have many readers there in your country, but since OD is an international gathering, some of your readers may well be "ignorant" of daily life there, and I for one am curious to see what you see.

3.  A color I associate with you:  The easy answer is black – your diary is black.  Your first dairy showcases your HTML talents too.  A harder answer is this: red and blue.  When I think of Australia, I always see the Red Desert in the heart of Australia (I saw the first Mad Max movie a million times on my ship at sea in the Navy) with the clear blue sky overhead.  You are earth and sky.

4.  Something I like about you:  Leaving aside the shallow appreciation of your beauty and your constant notes on my diary, I like the way you write.  You have studied journalism and are working/interning for one of the papers there, and although your written voice has a youthful, outraged tone to it, this is not a bad thing.  I could so easily see your lines in our local free paper, The Willamette Week.

5.  My first memory of you is a set of notes you left on my diary:

I think I experienced a similar thing with boarding school. I spent 3 years living in a room with three other girls, different girls, and the walls didn’t go up to the ceiling so really it was like living in one room with 40 girls! You got to know each other really well, and those are the best friendships and memories of my life. My ‘navy’ experience is a think in Australia called Young Endeavour [your thunder]

http://www.youngendeavour.gov.au – where you and 23 other young people get on a tall ship replica of the ship Captain Cook came to Australia on. Even though it was only 5 days, we worked together and manned the ship ourselves and lived in extremely close quarters. I loved it! 🙂 [your thunder] 4/8/2006 5:25:11 AM

This note was left on an entry of mine called "Navy Days 5", the last of a series of pictures and text I wrote and posted in April of this year about my Navy experiences..  This is how I have aquired many of my readers- I posted an Open Diary entry which is open to all and thus appears on the "recent" list of entries, attacting those new readers.

6.  The animal you remind me of is a black Persian Cat.  You are (even if you say you aren’t) a sleek, smart person who is good looking and talented- a good combination.

7.  Something I’ve always wanted to ask you:  Skipping the dirty-old-man questions that come to mind, I want to ask you if you think you’ll ever be able to come to Oregon- I would love to be your tour guide.

*later: she wasn’t a TOD member- it’s always been OD

Good grief Cat…you seem to have large numbers of fascinating young women as your readers. The meme is a credit to Your Thunder…your wide readership is a credit to you.

You really put thoughts into these meme’s. These are very nice 🙂

hehe loved it! Thank you 🙂 Altho one fault – I was never a member of TOD; I’ve always been an OD member 🙂

RYN: What’s a meme?

Wonderful again Cat! RYN: I see you dancing, in your writing you move rather smoothly and deeply. The experience might not look the same as mine, yet, you know what I’m talking about. There’s just this connection that you simply don’t try to explain and in all honesty, don’t feel the need to explain. We flow…or get in the zone…there’s numerous ways of describing IT 🙂

You’d love all the reat of Australia too, if she could show it to you via some photos.I hope she does!

I enjoyed reading this! And since she’s begun reading and noting me, and I’ve been reading her, I see that she is such a wonderful person…. much as you describe. I’m really glad I’ve had the chance to meet her, through your diary. hugs, Weesprite

RYN: Is an incentive a bribe?

July 1, 2006

I wanted to read her diary, but it’s a favorites only diary. Sigh… oh well. I think she definitely sounds interesting and I would love to see some pictures of Australia in daily life! I have never seen any pictures from Australia and I have always wondered what it looks like. Hey if I ever come to Oregon will you be my tour guide too? Huh? Huh? Huh? LOL. I promise not to be a pain! 😉

Yeah. Me too I’d love to see pics of Australia. I wish YOUR THUNDER would go public instead of Favs monly.

Those are really high property taxes @ $4000/year. It’s a shame that business and industrial properties don’t pick up a fair share.

Ya know I really should watch Mad Max sometime. I still haven’t seen it.. does that make me a bad Aussie?
