Blood Donations and Other Things
I am seriously reconsidering this donating of blood. I woke up this morning feeling mild vertigo. This was nowhere as bad as the last session I had {which you can read about here if you want to.} but it was annoying enough to make it difficult for me to do what I want to do. I am actually not sure that this is related to giving blood because the last time I had it, I had not donated. I was telling Fred this morning that I was thinking I would try donating one more time when he brought up two good points. First, I really do not need to be doing anything that might compromise my health even it is just slightly because in the coming months I will first, be having surgery and secondly, be going to Italy. He also pointed out that before I had cancer, I gave blood regularly for several years and any "obligation" I may feel to give has certainly been fullfilled. So, I will think about it some more and decide in a month or so—but, as I said, I am coming down on the side of not doing it any more.
We are having fantastic weather here — temperature 41 and feels like 37 with SUN!
–and the snow is rapidly going away. Fred went out on the deck this morning and disposed of the little bit that was left and now it really feels and looks spring-like since there is no snow on the deck and green {albeit soggy} grass is showing out in the yard. I am hoping to fit in a gentle walk this afternoon but even if I don’t do that, I can walk over to the front door that used to be ours {But is now the landlords} and see if the tulips I planted are showing any signs of coming up.
I have done a little homework and started cleaning the kitchen. Actually I have almost finished cleaning the kitchen. There is nothing like sunlight coming into a kitchen to show all the bits that got missed! So, I have cleaned all surfaces and the outside of all appliances. All there is left to do is the floor which I will do when I have finished here.
On with the day…

end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".

Ci vedo dopo…. see you later…
Perhaps a compromise might be to refrain from donating until after your trip to Italy, and then see how you cope with it?

Definitely no blood donating for you if you react this badly. I hope you get feeling better quickly. Definitely chow down on some nutritious foods before that walk…don’t want you to collapse on us!

I’d say Fred is right. You’ve done your share of donating blood. As one noter said, maybe when you get back from Italy. If you do give blood I’d say have them put it in reserve for you in case you need it when you have your operation.

I totally agree with Fred.

Fred’s the man! He’s looking out for you and I think he’s right, too! Spring is definitely trying to come and I hope it stays once it gets here. Have a great weekend!

Yes, you need to be healthy.

I am always glad that the ‘early morning sun’ hits my kitchen before I’m really awake enough to notice it. I think you’re very wise to put your own health ahead of the obligation to part with your blood. I’ll donate twice next time, once for me and once for you, ok? Just don’t tell anyone that I’m O-.

One of the things I miss about living in the north is the crocus popping up through the snow. I have never seen them flower here in Alabama. The tiny back yard of my house in Western NY was a blanket of crocus. Tulips are considered an annual here. I do hope spring is on the way for you. You are past the usual “St. Patrick’s Day” storm. It was always bad weather on St Pat’s day in Buffalo!!!

I agree with Fred. You’ve done more than most people ever do so if it’s messing with your health, don’t do it anymore.

Weather is way beyond wonderful here too – finally got to drive with the TOP down on the car on the way home….So sunny and warm, and the only snow left is in the piles that were pushed into place by snowplows so many weeks ago now. Well, there are vestiges here and there under trees too, but whatever. OH, keep your blood…for now…it’s what’s best for you, and sometimes we really do just need to do what’s best for us. Hugs,

I can’t give blood any more, which is rather depressing to me, as I figured that it was one way that I could do good.

The weather here has already jumped to summer. It’s supposed to be 80 some degrees today, and it was the same yesterday!

I stopped giving blood 2 years ago when I started traveling to Africa – the paperwork and hassle just got too great. I’ve always believed that those who can give, should. It makes me feel good spiritually even though it may have some minor physical effects. (One of the areas where Fred and I have different opinions.) Namaste

You might just want to wait and consider donating blood for yourself, before your surgery, you know? Love to you!! Bunches of it! ~M

If you feel poorly, I’d stop for awhile. I wish it was more like spring here! RYN: I was so tired last night, I meant to type that I enjoyed the Pro D Day because I got tons of marking done and cleaned up my classroom. Usually, I leave mad that we wasted so much time.

I’m with Fred on the blood donating.

Sunshine coming in the kitchen is wonderful…a nice slow start to the day doesn’t hurt.
