A Bake-Off Recipe….yeah, right!

I watched a Bake-Off contest on TV a couple of weeks ago and the woman that won the $1,000,000 prize did it with a simple chicken recipe that used frozen waffles instead of the bread in her stuffing.

Hey, I can do that I said to myself! So I decided to try and adapt one of my popular recipes to their contest rules. I made one last week that the kids (aka guinea pigs lol) at Dennis’ school loved but I knew it wasn’t a winner. However I knew I had the filling right. So today I am trying another version.

In this recipe I needed two baked chicken breasts shredded. So this morning I pulled out the breasts to thaw. Then I washed them, cut the fat off and beat them. Then into the oven to bake and then I was ready to throw them into the frying pan and shred them. It was all going too easy and I should have been on my guard. But I wasn’t. I started shredding the chicken but it just wasn’t happening.

I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. The chicken was tough and wouldn’t shred at all. The best I was getting was huge chunks and lots of tiny ground up pieces. I was trying to remember where I bought this chicken because it was so tough and I had never seen grain like this before on a chicken breast. I sure was getting pissed off at whoever sold me this crap!

Then finally I took a break and stared at the chicken fuming and I just couldn’t believe it. I simply couldn’t believe that after washing this chicken and cutting off the fat and baking them that not once did I realize I was working with boneless pork chops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I got a real good shot at winning this Bake-Off! LOL!

LOL yeah, that woman was on Oprah, and Oprah kept saying “You won a million for THIS?” Hehe, she was just messing with her, though. Keep trying, you can do it!

Oh, and don’t feel too bad about the mistake – one time Steven and I argued for 10 minutes about whether a pork chop was chicken or fish, lol.

Damn! Remember the meat grinder that Mom and Grandpa were always using when we were little? :->
