Ahhh, the joy of feeling human again!
Yes, it finally happened yesterday after nearly a month of running non-stop. I woke up from sleeping all day after working all night and I’ll be darned if I didn’t feel human again! Wow! Dennis is still trying to get there but I have hopes this weekend will do it for him also.
I feel ready to finally kick Christmas out of the house for good now. We haven’t really been doing too badly in that department actually. Even though we were drained, we still managed to get the living room completely back to normal and cleaned and I even did the bedroom which is a biggie. Every single dish in the house is dirty right now but that’s just two dishwashers full and the laundry needs to be caught up but that’s mostly sheets and blankets from all the company since I managed to get the clothes caught up.
So it’s just the family room today. I will be boxing everything up but not putting it all in the cedar room just yet. Yes, this house is so big that we even have a big room (about 10 X 12 I think) lined with cedar for storage! It’s not as pretty as the term "cedar room" implies, but it is lined with shelves on two sides and a long rod for hanging clothes the length of another side. It’s a great place for storage if everything isn’t thrown in and disorganized…guess what state it’s in though! LOL! So I would like to get it cleaned up a bit while it’s still kind of empty. Wish me luck on that:)
One thing I will not be attempting is taking down the decorations from the stairwell window. This is Dennis painting the ceiling so you understand why I won’t be doing it! We now have a pretty tiffany style hanging light fixture there and I will not even risk possibly damaging it!
Oh, hey it’s working! We are trying to spruce up the place so it’s not so old and worn out looking and Alex really boosted our spirits when we first pulled in the driveway. Just to remind you, this is how our front door looked "before and after" our efforts.
Alex looked at the porch and said "You got a new door?"
Isn’t it amazing what can make you feel good sometimes? lol. Well, no new news here. I am off to hopefully make some progress on cleaning up. If I do, then Dennis may feel up to getting the paint and we’ll be diving into doing the stairwell this weekend! Woo Baby, I have been waiting almost 7 years to see that painted. Of course, we weren’t doing anything until the kids were gone, no use painting while they were still throwing sharp objects at the walls and using rubber stamps on them!
Well they’re gone now (almost) and we will be too with any luck by summer!
RYN; smart lady, but I’m willing to bet once he got those glasses he looked at you and thought you were more beautiful than anyone he’s ever known. Now I’m going to take a minute to read above…

You two are soooo busy. The house is looking great, don’t you love it when someone notices all the hard work you do :>) That entry is tall, we have one too. I want to paint but for the fear of falling, and how to balance a ladder on stairs, it remains builder beige. Someday…have a nice weekend and I hope Dennis catches up on rest also. :>)

You guys should at least consider painting the bricks at the bottom a stone gray. (Maybe they’d match the roof?) Cuz right now it looks pretty bland. Well, aside from that rockin red door, hehe. 😀

Eh, maybe once the porch is all painted up it’ll look better. Are ya gonna paint white trim around all the windows?

I LOVE the feeling of accomplishment after the house is cleaned or remodeled or organized. You should feel very proud for all of your efforts! I’m looking forward to a few new things too after the kids are not around to blow them up. (smile)
