Possibly my LAST inventory???

I had a busy couple of days with not much sleep in between. I had a huge order to put up on Monday night that I wasn’t expecting so I didn’t go in early and had to really work it to get done on time. Then on Tuesday, our son left a note saying that he had to go in to work 3 hours earlier than usual so there went my morning nap. By the time I got back from driving him to work, I was still too tired to clean anything and had an even busier night at work coming up so it was off to bed for me but sleep was elusive. Oh well, if I could get all the work done, Wednesday night was all mine.

Tuesday nights are tag night. That means I get a basket of shelf tags to replace on my aisle. Sometimes I can get them done in a couple of hours and then see if I can get any backstock out of my closet and onto the shelves and then do an order for Thursday night delivery.  But this Tuesday was inventory night also where I have to count everything in my closet. This entails dragging everything up to the front of the store and using the register to count it so I have a ‘receipt’ to tape to each box. A little time consuming and I have come to dread this night which happens 3 or 4 times each year, but this could possibly be my last one! If we can get the house sold and move which means I quit this job finally by July, then I won’t be there for the next one! Yippee! lol.

And I think it may just happen too! You know the old saying "It’s always darkest before the dawn"? Well, this inventory night was the worst since I have taken over the job and had to completely reorganize the closet. The tags were very heavy and even though I was really rushing, it still took me 3 and a half hours to get them done. Then the aisle was especially messy so it took me longer than usual to block everything (bring all the product to the front and make it pretty). The order went quickly so that was good. But in my closet, I had alot of stuff in there to count that wasn’t even supposed to be in there. Grrr. But it’s not my store and if the manager wants that crap in there, then so be it. *sigh* This count took me a solid two hours and I was woefully behind by the time I FINALLY got to my stuff to count. A mere hour and a half left to count my stuff or I would have to come in on Wednesday night. This was not something I wanted to do because I was exhausted and my house was in desperate need of cleaning!

The thought of this being my very last inventory though really spurred me on and I got the whole damn thing done and punched out only 6 minutes past my usual shift! Yay! I did go in 2 hours early thank goodness, but I was done and just about skipped to the car thinking that I may never have to go through that again. Wow, wish us luck on getting out of here by July ok?? Please?? I’ll make you cookies if you do! LOL!

Well, I got to sleep last night instead of going into work so I am rested enough to get the kitchen cleaned and maybe paint some cabinet doors so I’d better get to it!

OMG that sucks! Hope you get your new house quickly! (And some extra sleep…)

Didn’t we once go to that store next to old Woolworth’s to do inventory? I remember it being so horrible…I recall being bored out of my mind from mindless counting. Have fun painting!
