She had me sputtering the whole way!
"She" being my baby girl Jasmine. We went for our usual walk this morning as we do every morning and as usual she sniffed at the wall of the dreaded Ms. Harris’s garden and as usual I reminded her she is not allowed in there. Not as usual though, Jasmine found the one chink in the wall, which admittedly is only a row of rocks to stake out her claim, but has been enough to deter our rickety old gal. But as I said, she found the one chink in this wall and before I knew it, she was IN! Grrrr! And she thought she was going to take a nice walk through the forest while she was in there. At least all these 4 foot tall bushes of daisies and black-eyed susans were a forest to Jasmine. But Mom said no and tugged on her chain to get her to come back out which she did.
Well the wall won. This dog couldn’t find the same chink to get out and very quietly and gracefully ended up looking like Donald Duck trying to wrap a Christmas gift. You know that cartoon of him getting all pissed off and ending up tied up all crazy to the gift? That’s all I could think of as I stared in amazement at the position Jasmine was in. And could she move at all? Of course not! Is it still dark and I’m tripping all over the rocks trying to help her? Of course!
I finally got myself positioned over her and bent down to use my hands as a harness underneath her to pull her up until her legs slipped back underneath her and she was back on her feet. Then I had to keep holding her up while bent over and walking her out with my legs on each side of her trying not to trip myself so she wouldn’t fall getting back over the rocks. We must have made quite a sight!
Well, I was sputtering at her after that! For the whole walk I was explaining to her the importance of listening to her mother, and talking to her about her manners and how she knew better than to get into Ms. Harris’s flowers and what was she thinking and on and on. I knew it was making an impact too! Well it would have if she had heard a single word I said! LOL! Nope, she just was trotting right along with her little ears bouncing, sniffing everything she could get close to like she wasn’t being fussed at all. I know she can’t hear well because other dogs in the neighborhood always bark when we walk by and she always was pulling at the leash to go check them out, but now her ears don’t even perk up and she has no idea she’s being barked at. Oh well, she’s safe and happy.
We did have a pretty good weekend though. We had to postpone the yard sale since the ground was soaked and the rain wasn’t going to end until after the weekend. We just couldn’t see ourselves getting up at 4am to go out into wet 35 degree weather to set up all this stuff with tarps etc just to have a lukewarm turnout and then drag it all back in anyway. So we put up a sign the night before saying that the yard sale was postponed to this coming weekend. It should be a decent weekend weatherwise so hopefully we will get rid of alot. So even though we weren’t able to have the yard sale, we still got a little bit done. Well, Dennis did! lol. He painted the ceiling in the stairwell and put up the tiffany style light which is just gorgeous! It can be seen from outside and we both kept checking the mail or putting out garbage so we could get another look at it! lol. He also got a little more done on one of the spare bedrooms. It won’t take much more to get that one done. Then all I need to do is make a better pair of curtains to cover the sliders in there. But that’s not til after Christmas.
No news on the TV yet but they did come pick it up early. They weren’t supposed to be here until today but I got a call on Thursday that they had a few minutes and could they pick it up then? Sure I said and they had just left when Dennis walked in. It was the first thing he noticed since it’s not easy to hide the fact that a 52 inch screen TV is missing! LOL! I asked him if he had noticed a pickup truck with a guy standing up in the back holding onto a huge bundle covered in blankets and he said "Yes! I wondered what that idiot was doing standing up in the back of a truck!" I told him that idiot was holding his TV so it didn’t get damaged on the road! LOL! We’re not worried though, since no matter what happens to the TV, it either gets fixed 100% or gets replaced and you all know what we’re hoping for!
Yes, we’re rotten and we don’t care!
Well, the laundry is caught up and supper is already planned and thawed out ready to a be turned into pot roast so I have a little time to myself today. Gotta catch up on Grey’s Anatomy and possibly get a bunch done on the baby cross stitch for Steph. Oh but I do have to remember to find a pattern for the Halloween party we’re going to. We are going as teenagers…of another era. I am wearing a poodle skirt and Dennis is basically going as the Fonz! LOL! Friends of ours are going as Hugh Hefner and a Playboy Bunny. It must be nice to have confidence like this woman does, but I don’t look forward to seeing her in that outfit, especially after seeing her in a miniskirt. I say if the skirt you’re wearing is wider than it is long, you should note to yourself that it’s probably not flattering! Sheesh! All I know is I weigh a bit less than she does and I wouldn’t be caught dead in that outfit for all the world to see! Yikes! But it will fun. Last year we went as Gomez and Morticia Addams and that was fun. It should be better this year though since the party is very close by so there won’t be traveling to worry about. Hmm, I can’t seem to find the Addams picture. Gotta get Dennis to upload it for me. I love that picture of us! I felt like Cher all night though because of the long black wig that kept getting in my face! lol.
But for now…Grey’s anatomy here I come:)
Morning, Monday holiday and I’m trying to catch up w/ a few, sounds like a nice weekend. We had a similar experience w/ our t.v., we bought the extended warrenty & 4 yrs. later, it fitzed. we got a brand new flat screen for free. You’re not rotten, you’re lucky :>) I’d love to see that Halloween photo. Have fun watching Grey’s, love that show :>)

Haha, poor dog. Just walk her up the other side of the cul-de-sac. That dead blue pick-up truck distracts her from the flowers. She does like the ivy forest, though. Probably because that’s my favorite place for her to potty because it disappears and I don’t feel bad for not picking it up, lol. Nice costume idea. 🙂

RYN, thanks, our family is very much a celebration of life family. Grammie was 99 when she left. What a life she lived :>) I’m actually looking forward to digging thru some things. She kept a diary, wrote everyday. My cousin is a writer, I’m thinking she should take the diaries and write a book. The world grew incredibly during that generations life times. & yes my Mom is a hot 72 yr. old :>)
