What a day I had yesterday!
It was 6am when Dennis left for school yesterday, and I suddenly got another bee in my bonnet. We had been talking about all the work we still have to do and hubby made the comment that I needed to get going on sewing slipcovers and curtains for the whole place. I told him I was having trouble finding fabric I liked for a price I liked. He well knows this as I have dragged him to JoAnn’s quite a few times trying in vain to find something…anything! Well, he commented that I was being too picky and I had admit he was right. Admitting he is right is not something I do lightly either! After all, there is no end to his "Of course I’m right, I am the keeper of infinite knowledge" comments afterward. At least it’s something like that, I quit listening as soon as he starts! LOL!
Anyway, I walked into Wal-Mart at 6:15 absolutely determined to find fabrics for all four rooms downstairs! And I was NOT going to pay alot for them either! Of course, with our cash flow problem (in part because I got carried away paying bills, but we won’t talk about that! lol) I went in with the plan of picking everything out and putting it all on layaway.
And I’ll be hogtied if I didn’t actually find material for everything on my list!!!! WOW! I just couldn’t believe it! And I got everything but one on the discount rack! AND I got out of making one slipcover because it was on sale in the color and size I needed. Alot more detail and prettier fabric than I was going to be able to put together! I was on a high folks and it was only 8am too! I was on a high that is, until….
I found out that Wal-Mart (or at least this one) doesn’t have layaway anymore!!!
Now what was I going to do?? All the fabric had been cut and it was all on one ticket. If I put one back I had to put them all back. But they were on the discount rack! What if they sold it before I got back?? And the slipcover matched so perfectly! I couldn’t put any of it back! Not after finally finding everything I needed and at such an awesome price! So I took a deep breath and started thinking. Luckily Dennis wasn’t with me cuz that always makes him nervous! LOL! But I came up with a solution. I had paid much more than usual on a credit card and so I rationalized using the card by telling myself I was just getting back some of the cash I tied up by paying too many bills! Hey, that’s logical right?
Now you know why Dennis gets nervous when I start thinking! LOL!
So here’s what I got. I don’t have pictures yet, but I will be sure to get them up soon showing you all my treasures. I got a slipcover for the loveseat, 5 yds of material for the family room sliders, 4 yards of material for the kitchen windows, 7 yds for the dining room and 7 yds for the living room…that takes care of the WHOLE downstairs with probably enough for a few matching pillows. Note that I got a total of 23 yards of material and the slipcover – all for $165!!! Am I awesome or WHAT? And every time I walk by the pile of material, I smile because it all actually matches what it needs to and I love it all! Nothing looks like I compromised at all!
However, I am a worrier and I was stressing all day long that I really shouldn’t have charged that much without running it by Dennis first after I ran us out of money with the billpaying frenzy I went on. So I sent him an email telling him how good I did and to let me know if I had messed up by using the credit card. I kept checking my email all day waiting for a response. I was sure he would be fine with it, but I am a worrier and needed confirmation damn it!
But no response all day long!!! I even sent him 2 other emails about other stuff just trying to get his attention and he did finally respond saying he only got 2 of the 3 emails I told him I sent him. Obviously he got the two that didn’t matter and before I knew it he was home and asking what was in the third email.
*defeated sigh* I was hoping to be destressed by the time he got home, not all wound up even worse than before and then trying to explain it all before he even got inside! So I got through the whole explanation and he gets this "Oh no you didn’t do that!" look on his face and I went into total panic mode. I offered to take it all back right then and there and the BRAT starts laughing and tells me he finally got the email and he thinks I did a great job and using the card was fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now this man knows how much I worry about things and how stressed out I can get, but does he lift one finger to alleviate my stress? Nooooooo, he lets me suffer then gets a kick out of sending me into a panic!!
I was so relieved though but started yelling at him anyway but neither of us could stop laughing so the yelling didn’t really take! LOL! I keep saying it, but it’s a damn good thing he’s so good looking!! LOL!
He sounds great! And pat yourself on the back for a shopping trip done right.

Heh, funny you should talk about fabrics! At this very moment, I’m making my “monthly curtains” for Valentine’s Day. Photos coming up soon! 165 bucks for 23 yards! That’s practically a robbery! I can’t wait to see some photos!
