What a weekend!

It was our 6th anniversary on Friday and look what my honey walked in the door with!

Yellow roses are my favorite and he remembered. *blissful sigh*  I made him a lattice top apple rhubarb pie, but only got to it yesterday! (Some wife I am huh? LOL!) To celebrate, we went out to one of our favorite restaurants we don’t get to very often. It’s a greek restaurant that has a covered patio that we really enjoy. It’s less crowded outside, very comfortable and we always take our time with no pressure to hurry. And when I say take our time, we always spend 3 hours every time we go! lol. We have a cocktail, and ask them not to bring the appetizer until we are finished, and the salad and the entree the same way. We enjoy the wine and the company and talk and laugh endlessly. And the food is soooo delicious. It’s the kind of place that serves 4 stuffed mushrooms on a plate the size of a platter and once you taste the food you realize it’s worth the size of the plate! lol. Out of this world! Of course by the end of the meal, if you order dessert, you gotta get it to go cuz you are stuffed! Just a wonderful wonderful anniversary dinner. It was actually the first year we got to celebrate. Every other year we were always just coming out of summer with no money so we couldn’t do anything other than crack open a bottle at home. This was a blissful romantic night though.

The next day though, it was back to reality. We spent two days cleaning the yards. Wow, who knew a yard neglected for a couple of teeny tiny years could be such hard work to clean! lol. But we did it. And in cleaning it, we closed another chapter of our lives here. Dennis got out the wrench and unscrewed the chain for Jasmine from the tree it has been tied to for 7 years. She will never be tied out again. She hates it now and fights going out there and always has trouble walking afterwards so it’s better for her rickety old bones to be taken for a long walk every day instead. There was the HUGE patch of naked clay around the tree to be dealt with though. She had worn it down about a foot lower than the rest of the yard to boot, but we had a monstrous amount of leaves that had turned themselves into natural mulch (lucky us! lol) so we basically just covered the bald spot with them. Saved us from dragging the pile further down into the woods and made it look alot better.

You can only see half of the covered bald spot to the left, but you get the idea. We laughed when we saw the pictures Dennis took of our yard yesterday. Kinda looks like a park! Not so much in real life though! LOL! This is the same shot further back:

And this is off the side of our front porch:

Looks so pretty doesn’t it? I don’t know why it doesn’t have the same feeling in real life! lol. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got no complaints about the neighborhood even if we do absolutely drown in leaves in the fall, but really! The pictures sure do dress up the place somehow! Who knew we lived HERE? Not us!

Well, it’s back to reality again for me. I still stop and smile when I see the flowers and remember our wildly romantic night, but the floors won’t vacuum themselves and the laundry won’t wash itself either so off I go!

Just remember my love… even after 6 years, I still don’t need a reason.

I bet your flowers don’t stink like mine do. 🙁 lol Glad ya had fun. Now tell me the name of the damn restaurant!!! <3

Awww…what a sweet note from your hubby! Your yard looks great, but I know how the pictures can deceive. My yard looks so green and inviting in pictures but you can’t see all the bugs and the holes the dogs have dug. Thanks for all of your notes. I always enjoy them.

Oooh, I always order those stuffed mushrooms if they’re on the menu!!! They are my absolute favorite! 🙂 I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since your wedding! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY…the flowers are beautiful! *hugs*
