Alpha what?

This semester’s pledge class is cute.  That’s the best word I can use to sum them up.  They’re little charmers and just ADORABLE!  Rob looks like he’s about 10 years old and T.J. is this smooth freestyle rapper.  Rich is smart and funny and Billy and Brian, of course, are my buddies.  Mike, who I don’t know real well, kicked some serious butt at carving the head for the float – very cool.  That’s about half of the class – I’m working on learning something about all the rest (including their names, I keep forgetting!)

It’s so awesome to be able to watch a pledge class like this – to be at the house a lot and be recognized by them.  I try to be nice to them so they always kind of remember me as the nice girlfriend of Mark, even if they don’t remember my name.  I know how some of the older guys looked at Molly and I want that same thing – I kind of have it with some of the guys from Mark’s class (baking brownies will ALWAYS get you on people’s good sides!).  It’s just…nice.  I like to be liked.  Who doesn’t?

Anyway, it’s crazy to think that their pledge period is almost over!  Formal is November 20th!  Mark’s seemed to go on FOREVER, but, of course, it’s all hindsight bias and all that mumbo jumbo.  I’m just looking forward to a nice, big party where I get to wear a pretty dress and go out for a nice dinner.  I think this formal will be better than last spring – there was no pledge class then, so there was no huge celebration of “yeah, we made it!”  Mark’s first formal, last fall, was a BLAST (well, except for when Bill had to get stitches, but…) and I hope future formals can be more like that – like I said, it helps to have a big, giddy group of newly initiated members!

Enough about the Greeks – work is almost over and I can’t wait to go home and watch Conan and take a bath.

I wish it would rain tonight – I love it when it rains at night.
