When did it all get so silly?

The likelihood Donald Trump will get the Republican ticket, and might even be President again.

News agencies [BBC et al] quoting Hamas press releases as facts even though it is a terrorist organisation and essentially lies for a living.

People desperate enough to use small boats/dinghies to get to England for sanctuary, only to be shipped off to Rwanda.

Republicans holding up aid to a country that has been invaded, so they can continue the nonsense of a Border Wall within their own country as if the two were linked in anyway whatsoever.

Climate “Talks” which mostly lead to either unmet targets or extended deadlines.

News headlines that a dictator [Vladimir Putin] is “running for election again

In the USA, abortion is an aberration, the senseless taking of a child’s life, but it is apparently okay to shoot them once they get to school age

Peaceful Protest marches” with posters reading “Death to all Zionists

You obviously will agree and/or disagree with some of the above, you may classify them as “fake news” or “culturally inappropriate” or “facts“.   For me it’s a small part of the lunacy that surrounds us, which is growing at an alarming rate.   The moderates have left the stadium and all we are left with is the extremes on either side.   Politicians seem less and less inclined to hide their own agendas, their backroom deals; sadly this includes the so called “Democratically Elected“.   At least we know that Dictators et al are going to be crooks, now we seem to be almost desperate to elect them [crooks].

Billy Connolly so wonderfully commented: “The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.”

We’re mostly buggered as a civilisation; I admire [and pity] those that remain hopeful in the face of who we are and what we do, to each other and the planet.  Societal collapse on a worldwide scale feels imminently possible, governments seem to exist largely to “cover up the cracks“, dictators just change the monologue to suit.

In the end, taking all the words and expletives that so many write in a desperate attempt to simply understand something, it seems to boil down to one thing.   Greed.   To have and to accumulate wealth whilst contributing as little as possible.  To deny and delay anything that might remotely slow down or reduce the bottom line.   To maintain the gap between the “haves” and the “have nots“.   Too maintain social conditioning, with “legal” violence if necessary, so the vast majority of our global society do not get to “live” their lives, but merely get to exist.  To ensure continuity of the fiction that binds us all.

Depressed?  Me?   Don’t be absurd.

It’s so silly as to be goofy!
