Bring home the Bread

Gentle Hearts,

There’s a nice hushed, calm feeling about the end of the busy week come Friday.  Everyone is looking forward to the Weekend!  Hubby went to work this morning refreshed with the idea of spending Saturday with his Wife and family.  Tomorrow he and I and his sister, Sam are planning a trip to Central Oxford.  I’m going to the Library to return some library books and then we’re going to this record fair.   On Sunday there is a Fun Festival at the Park and the Aris family is looking forward to this annual event.  There will be rides and kiosks and face painting for the kids!

My day began at six O’clock.  I had some Tea and read the morning papers.  I said goodbye to my husband as he went to work and then I took a shower.  I had a busy day myself.  I set out to bake some bread!  That’s right…I litterally set out to make a fresh loaf of bread…from scratch!  There’s something soothing and theraputic about baking bread.  The joy is in the kneading as you melt away the tension out of your system by wringing out the dough!  It feels terrific! Then there is the gift of patience that breadmaking teaches you.  You have to first let the dough rise for two hours after mixing in the leavening (yeast) with the flour, salt and water.  The joy is in the actual fact that you are about to witness the birth of a fresh, soft but crispy loaf of bread out of a lump of dough all thanks to the fermentation of the yeast that like the miracle of birth, as seed fertalizes ovum and grows into new life.  I am going to be making bread more often.

Tonight its Do as you Please night here.  Everyone eats whatever they like.  Hubby and I are having burgers and crinkle fries and banana nut bread for pudding!
