Mopping away my worries. With a mop.
Today started out fabulously. Beautiful, shiny, sunny, all that goodness. Jake came home for his lunch break and we decided to flip our routine and went for a walk. And got the mail, in which I got a lovely letter from the immigration people (no need to go into that, if you have read the previous entry). So I read the letter and then formulated my plan on the walk, until I had to just hold Jake’s hand and cry as we walked home.
Once I did all I can do for now, I set into cleaning. I’ve never really bothered mopping here, because we only have a stupid swiffer thing and we have way too much mop-able floor space and those two things do not really go together. Plus, when we moved in the plaec wasn’t clean, so I have to build up to the state of clean I want and… I’ve never really bothered. I mopped the whole kitchen and bathroom twice this afternoon, and it is cleaner… but still not clean. I REALLY need a proper mop. Either way, it will be clean properly by the time people are coming over for a meal I am preparing them…. in a handful of months.
I would’ve done more cleaning, but Jake came home so we headed off to do fun things like get him shaved, and looking at notebooks. My nanna wants a notepad, a very specific size and everything and I just cannot find it. I got close today, but it was 3.75"X9", rather than 3"X9". A little too big. Plus it was weird sparkly leopard print, but I don’t think that part would matter too much compared with the size. I do think it’s cute that she wants one the exact everything as the one she was using, that my grandpa got for her many many moons ago (mum said… back when australia was still using imperial mesasurements. I’m not certain just how long ago that was though. Pretty long lifespan for a notepad).
We had chicken sandwiches for dinner, thanks to the delicious hot chickens at the store. Mmm. When we got home, Jake went downstairs as there was a birthday party going on for one of the waitresses. And I started disassembling the chicken. Which I think I did a pretty good job of, considering I have had no practice of such an activity. I don’t usually even watch Jake when he does such things. I hate dealing with meat on bones, especially whole carcasses. So I was very proud of myself that I just did it. And Jake came home just as I was almost done, so he took over and got the final bits off.
This whole place smells fake-lemony. I think I may have overdone the cleaning.
I have eggs! So I can bake things. I’m thinking probably a half-batch of both some form of cookies and brownies. I only have 2 eggs to work with, maybe possibly 3 if I have to. The rest are a meal one night. But mmm… treats. I deserve treats. I was going to get a a cappuccino muffin at Stop & Shop and the bitch place didn’t have any! They didn’t even have any tasty sounding muffins at all! Just weird ones with nuts. I do like the green look of the pistachio ones but I know I wouldn’t enjoy the flavour. Sez-baked goods are so much better anyways. And there is more to go around! And thankfully neither of the things I want call for self rising flour. For some reason our store does not have that anymore. Pretty silly if you ask me. Ooh, I should get some molasses at some point. Mmm… gingerbread.
Obviously, brainy stresses is good for my word-machine. Explains why all my very old entries are very very long.
stay strong sezbot. You are a good peoples. I know you can get through this. and you have the power of many kittens. Chris

fake-lemony is better than the alternative, no? 🙂

apparently you just add something to normal flour to make your own self raising flour… I think it might be baking soda, not sure, not sure of measurements either, but it comes in handy when the Self raising runs out 🙂

if Stop & Shop ever stocks “red white & blue” muffins again (cranberry & blueberry) you should try them…. they’re AWESOME! I used to have one on my break every day when I worked there! (the Asiago bagels are great, too!)

I love those pre-cooked store chickens! We usually shred them and use it in enchiladas; it saves so, so much time.

It’s very cute how your nana wants such a specific size of notepad. When you first said you were looking at notebooks, I was thinking laptop and I immediately thought, “Hey, wait! I’m sure I read in an entry that she doesn’t want a laptop!” And then reality set in. :o)~jo
